How to unlock the Stick it in My Veins achievement in The Evil Within 2 - Definitive Guide

This is more a guide of when you can expect to unlock this with a tip to help.

TLDR.
I got this...
•New game plus (you get more gel and scrap and your upgrades from the first playthrough carry on through)
•During chapter three - just start mowing down bad guys, shouldn't take long into NG+
•If you really struggle for gel use the shooting range (unlocked after chapter three - you get even better gel and scrap rewards this time round)
- with your upgrades you should find this fairly easy

After you complete the story you can access new game plus which will make this easier as you get a lot more gel and upgrade components. You will not be getting this cheevo in one playthrough. New game plus has to be on the same difficulty that you completed the story - beets101 has said that lowering the difficulty on NG+ shouldn’t hamper your progress.

Playthrough one I was the biggest scavenger but still didn't max out gel or weapon upgrades.

Edit. LoL @ negative votes.
What even is the point?
(Thx TA community)

Edit. Thanks to Xx bRICKed xX for this vid suggesting all Red Gel/High Grade Weapon Parts locations:

So what’s the issue? When I said the difficulty has to be the same that was meaning you cannot bump the difficulty up.

Most games will allow you to lower the difficulty but not knock it up to make cheevos easier. I’ll modify

Odiedodie thanks for taking the time out to post this solution. Honestly though don't worry about editing your work just because some clowns have some nit picking issue.

do you get more gel and crafting components on Nightmare vs Casual for NG+?
I need to know the fastest difficulty to pick. NM was not difficult so i have no problem starting there again... but i rather do casual if there is no difference in the amount you get.

I’m pretty sure difficulty just effects damage you take and damage dealt

took about 10 times to get this to unlock - quitting the game and loading the autosave before i'd upgraded everything and doing it again finally worked though

This is ONLY a protip for getting a lot of extra Green Gel from the Shooting Range, and is a game changer if you're struggling with getting the required points. You will want to do this on your initial playthrough (Nightmare, if you're following the Walkthrough) and then again on your New Game Plus playthrough. I recommend doing this as soon as you have enough gels to buy the Combat Skill called Synaptic Focus. This lets you push the Y button to go into slow motion aiming, which when coupled with using the Unlimited Stamina cheat in the Options menu makes the range laughably easy.

Shooting Range: When the timer begins, press the Y button to go into slo-mo and hold the Left Trigger the ENTIRE TIME. The entirety of the challenge will be in slow motion and you should blow past the required thresholds for each difficulty. Playing through every level up to very hard will net you huge amounts of green gel and weapon parts.

Chain Attack: When the timer begins, press the Y button to go into slo-mo and hold the Left Trigger the ENTIRE TIME. You won't be able to see the colours of the tiles but they all have the same symbol on them so match them up that way. The second you get at least twelve tiles of the same symbol vibrating, shoot them for points.

With slo-mo enabled, you have all the time in the world to carefully make matches. In fact, I was regularly over 60 seconds shortly after my first few tile matches. You want to score 100,000 points which will net you huge amounts of green gel and weapon parts.

In order to upgrade Sebastian’s abilities, you must enter Sebastian’s office through one of the mirrors in the game world. By chapter 3, a wheelchair will appear down the hallway to the left of the workbench in Sebastian's office. Sit in the wheelchair and you will be able to upgrade Sebastian’s abilities.

You’re going to have to farm a ton of green gel through killing enemies, and you’ll also have to find some red gel scattered throughout the game. Fortunately, green gel is far more plentiful in new game +. Once you’ve completely upgraded everything in the health, athleticism, recovery, stealth, and combat skill trees, exit out of the upgrade menu and a small scene with Nurse Tatiana will play out. Once this scene is over, the achievement will unlock.

Here is a list of the locations where red gel can be found in the game:

Chapter 3:

  • Look around the west side of the map at the very end of one of the train cars.
  • From the north safehouse on the map, follow the road east, then south, then east again. Enter a house and look in the garage for the “KCPD Request for Psychological Evaluation” collectible file. Pick up the file, then go back to the living room and interact with the television set. After the cutscene, the red gel spawns by the corpse next to the television.

Chapter 4

  • At the end of the chapter before going up the ladder to fight the Guardian boss, there’s a little safehouse with a save point, a coffee maker, and a mirror. The red gel is right in front of the mirror.

Chapter 6

  • This one is found in Hoffman’s safehouse, on a black couch.

Chapter 8

  • Before the Stefano boss fight, look around the darkroom close to the mirror to find this red gel.

Chapter 11

  • You’ll be chasing after Hoffman, but your progress is halted by a large door. You’ll need to find a Unity Cerebral Chip in order to continue beyond the door. From the large door, move right, then continue down the hall and enter Lab 1 on your left. Turn left and go through the double doors to find the red gel next to a body.

Chapter 13

  • This is at the north east safehouse, right by the mirror.

Chapter 14

  • Go past the area with one Harbinger and numerous Disciples. A gate will close behind you and you’ll move up a large winding staircase. Theodore will talk to you as you move up the stairs. At the top of the staircase you’ll see the red gel right in front of you on a small table.

Chapter 16

  • This red gel is found at the last saferoom before the final boss. It’s right in front of the mirror.

Abilities can be upgraded from Chapter 3, once you will be able to reach Sebastian's office from the mirror. You will find a wheelchair inside the office and that wheelchair will transport you to an old friend. She can help you improve your abilities by using the green gel. You can get green gel from enemies or find it as a resource during exploration. To get the best abilities, however, you will need also some Red Gel to unlock new path. Red Gels can be found as collectables so you need to look for them inside the STEM. There are 9 of them and the bad thing is that you need 11 to be able to reach all the abilities. This means you need another playthrough in NG+. If you're following my Roadmap, you should start NG+ on Casual and get the 2 red gels you need. Also, in NG+, you will be awarded with more green gel by defeating enemies respect the NG so getting the trophy should be very easy and fast if you found all the red gels from Nightmare playthrough.

Follow this Guide by Trophy Germany and you will be able to find all 9 Red gels: LINK

You will find other suggestions about collectables in the walkthrough for the Story-related trophies, because there are no-return points. As almost all the Red Gels are easy to spot, I will show the only red gels that need some care so you will have the situation under control every moment:
  • Chapter 3 = Get the red gel in Chapter 3, before entering the warehouse.
  • Chapter 8 = Get the red gel before starting the fight with the boss. It is located near the mirror before the battle
  • Chapter 11 = Get the red gel before removing the chip from the head of the Mobius Guard
  • Chapter 16 = Get the red gel in Sebastian’s Office, before reaching your house.

In one playthrough on medium difficulty (vacuumed everything possible), I was able to upgrade everything except 2 shooting skills. There are about 100 thousand gel left to spend on them on the new game +

For completing the game they give you 40,000 green gel at once, in the new game+ twice as much of the same gel drops from enemies, in the end I got the 72,000 I was missing in literally half an hour in the third chapter, and there I took the missing red gel, which appears in the same places same as during the first playthrough.

In Chapter 3 there is an Easter egg with a large raven, for killing which you get 20k gel on the Nightmare difficulty (I haven’t tested it on other difficulties), a very useful boost for further leveling up.
