How to unlock the Bootable Offense achievement in The Evil Within 2 - Definitive Guide

Best to do this on your first playthrough. Easiest weapon to use is the Semi-Automatic Handgun. Just shoot the haunted in the legs until they drop onto the floor. Then run up to them and you'll see a stomp icon. Press cn_A to proceed with the stomp animation.

Shock Bolts are also really useful as noted by Imaginary ruins. Shock Bolts are essential for your classic playthrough.

Not really advisable to do this on New Game Plus since your weapons will be too powerful.

This is also a good way to save ammo.

Another way is to use Shock Bolts on water puddles. This can stun multiple enemies and make them fall down for easy stomping

Shooting them in the leg doesn't work most of the time on nightmare difficulty. On nightmare, it's better to use the harpoon bolt as it has a much higher chance of them falling down.
PS. the enemies are called the Lost not Haunted.

On Nightmare the Double Barrel Shotgun knocks down enemies for a stomp fairly often.

reloading saves to grind doesn't work btw.
Has to be in the same playthrough (maybe it carries over to New Game+ ?)

Can confirm it carries over to NG+. I just unlocked it after stomping only my 4th dude on NG+ mode because it must have kept the count from my first playthrough.

On Nightmare Difficulty I found it best to shoot enemies once in chest with the Shotgun & they will slowing stumble backwards & fall over, once down stomp on it with A.
Shooting in legs was doing nothing but waste ammo!
The Lockdown room at start of Chapter 4 has 5 sleeping enemies(Shoot with Pistol to Wake) that you can engage 1on1 before starting lockdown & can boost another 5 in ambush that follows. A shame it doesnt work on the bitch with knife though!
Hope this helps & saves you wasting ammo.

You can knock down enemies without killing them pretty easily by firing at them once or twice with the Sawed-Off Shotgun. Once the enemy has been knocked down, run over and press to stomp on them. I used the Sawed-Off Shotgun during the house defense section with Torres at the start of chapter 10 and unlocked this achievement there.

You could also use the shock bolts from the Warden Crossbow and fire the shock bolts at enemies standing on puddles of water throughout the game. This will stun and knock enemies down easily enough, then you can rush in and stomp on them while they’re still down.

We shoot with an electric bolt into the crowd or at one and quickly run up. Press X and you're done. and so 15 freaks were killed.

Enemies also fall from the shotgun and explosive bolts. You can also upgrade your melee branch and then you can throw them into melee

You can simply shoot at the legs with a shotgun, and then run up and trample.
