How to unlock the Silent Kill achievement in The Evil Within - Definitive Guide

The best place to get this Achievement is in Chapter 2 after you learn about the Sneak Kill you're going to come to an area with 6 enemies simply crouch walk up behind them and press cn_A when prompted.

1.Hide behind the hay after the cut-scene and wait for the enemy to walk away crouch walk after him and kill him.
2. Hide up against the corner and wait until the enemy is walking away and follow him and kill.
3. There are 2 enemies up ahead but you don't want the one on the road first, take the other guy out by sneaking around the hay stacks.
4. Take out the guy on the road.
5. Sneak through the building disarm the trap and make your way outside for no.5.

Getting this Achievement will cost you the Achievement for not killing an enemy on Chapter 2 but you can reload to previous saves.

*for some reason the Achievement will not trigger for me but I used another account to get it and my video shows exactly how to do it*

I started the game on Surival (im still on survival) and I tried it so many times without the tracker picking up a single Sneak Kill so I loaded up the game on a dummy account and thats the video you see in ther solution. I have no idea why the achievement wont pop for my main account but i'll wait until nightmare to attempt it again.

This is glitched. Tried 5 times without needing to reload. I even did 8 in a row. Also after both restarting the game and the console.

Great, this is juuuuust great. Probably have to start a new game or something.

Also, restarting the chapter does not work. Will try on a new save file later.

Yeah I did the same and it didnt work so maybe its something to do with leaving the console till the point it turns off and then turning it back on again because thats what I did and it never popped afterwards. I'll wait until I start a new game then go for it but I know the video works because I started the game again with a dummy account and it triggered. Very weird. shock

Started fresh on a new save (trying to go for no upgrades on that one) and it didn't unlock.

Seems like we have to hope for a patch soon or someone finds some kind of miracle work. The only other thing I can think of is going offline, deleting everything, starting fresh and trying again (offline so you can later get all your old saves back from the cloud).

Somebody wanna try that? I'd rather play the game some more before I start a new game yet again ;P

Ugh yeah I just got 8 total stealth kills in a row without even reloading a checkpoint and it still didn't pop. That sucks. I hate glitched achievements.

I got this while sneak killing the enemy that was beating on the door. Didn't even make it to the area in the video.
So it looks like this can glitch in one of two ways.

Also buggy for me- i hate Chievos glitches tried multiple times, so is it possible that this does NOT work because of the lowest difficulty i'm currently playing on?

No it has nothing to do with that because I got the Achievement with a spare account on easy. I thought mine glitched because I left my console idle and it turned off.

I just did it legit twice in 2 sessions today. No pop. Glad I'm not alone. Semi-related, the bar room brawl achievement did not pop but was added to my score 30 minutes later without notification and the little bleep. I was bummed. Patch needed.

Glitched to hell. Tried checkpoint reload. Tried chapter reload. Nice to see a new game blowing an achievement this early. (doesn't help that it looks like it's from 2008)

The guide by AH Luis works. I deleted everything then reinstalled, but I unplug my internet so I would not get the update (since it won't let u play without it), played to chapter 2, silent killed everyone ( just to be sure). Then I quit and reconnected Internet, checked my achievements and then it popped.

I was on ch15 on the first fight part and got this achievement. I flashed the 4 people going down the ladders and silent killed them but kept failing the section. After I flashed and killed them for like the 6th time it unlocked. This was after it glitched on me I'm ch2.

I got mine after killing the 4th guy in the video so maybe the guy you kill during the little tutorial does actually count. This was on my first playthrough as well.

I think it counts for some and not for others, this Achievement can be a real pain in the ****. I couldn't get it at all on my own GT but got it instantly on a dummy account.

Like Jonhny Broflex said, I got this on the "4th" guy as well.

Some of these achievements seem to be iffy on the requirements or updates have "fixed" them

So yeah, the tutorial stealth kill counted for me

I JUST GOT IT!!!

Okay, it seems that sometimes the game goes back to 0 kills after a checkpoint. So you have to stelth kill five enemies in the second area after the checkpoint. After killing the first two, go up the hill from the second guy (the one standing at the fireplace). There is another dude in front of a house you can easily stealth kill (wait behind the stone wall).

Now go back and right to the wagon. Wait for the guy on the other side to turn his back to you and disarm the first two traps. Go back and wait again for a good opening. Run past the third trap (it's to your left) and sneak up on the guy. The last one of in the house to your left. Go inside and under the wire trap. The dude is in the room to your right. Look carefully and when he is facing the wall get him.

The achievement popped right after that. Did this on survivor the first time and got no achievement. This time I started fresh on easy and it popped. Hope this works for you, too.

At least I didn't spend the last 2 hours for nothing ^^

*WARNING*

Some people have stated that this achievement is glitches on them. If it does glitch on you try deleting the entire saved data you have on your console. To do this go to Games and Apps and under Games select The Evil Within and manage data. Go to where your saved data is and delete it this includes the Day One Patch and for good measure remove the entire downloaded game as well. I personally did this after deleting the game itself and followed the above videos and my achievement popped. I am guessing it has something to do with the Day One Patch not working properly but I can only assume. Hopefully this helps out people who cannot get it unlocked

The best location is in Chapter 2 when a cut scene places you behind a hay stack. You will want to sneak up behind and kill 5 enemies without them seeing you. As you progress through the level you will want to use tall grass for cover, this will help you go unseen. The video shows the best path to taking down the enemies.

*Possible Glitch fix/work around*

First off, cheers to AH Luis for his fix. I figured I would share my solution with you guys, my fellow gamers.

Note: This was done on Xbox One. Not sure if it will work for Xbox 360 or PS3/PS4. It was done without USB backup saves or having to DELETE ANY DATA thanks to the "cloud".

Go to my GAMES AND APPS, scroll up/down to GAMES, scroll and highlight THE EVIL WITHIN, and press start on the tile. Go to MANAGE GAME and click on it. Uninstall just the game by again scrolling and highlighting THE EVIL WITHIN tile and clicking start. Then click uninstall. (I did have the fighting chance pack dlc and DID NOT uninstall it.) Take the disc out and re-insert to have it start re-install THE EVIL WITHIN. (It will prompt you that it needs an update to continue. This is Day One patch. Some say to click no and give it a go. I choose to install it as at the time I did not have it installed for some reason) So click yes to update patch day one and let it fully install.

Now, thanks to the "Cloud" my autosave was still there and started at the village in Ch. 2. If you don't have a save, start up chapter 2 and get to the village part that the videos show from the other guides.

Specifically what I did was I tried the PS3/PS4 trick where you silent kill the easy main guy in the center of the village and reload he autosave and do it again 5 times. I ended up doing it 10 times and it failed. So then I tried RIGHT AFTER THE 10TH TIME to kill all other villagers (5 more left). On the last one it ACTUALLY POPPED for me and I threw a party!!!! :)

When I say the main villager, I mean the one after the first two you silent kill and it autosaves. He stands absolutely still making him the easiest one to kill...

Hopefully this helps some of you guys. Please like and comment below. If you dislike please let me know why? I understand this isn't a complete guide like the videos, but it is one for those less fortunate like myself stuck with bugged achievements....

This cheevo glitched for me while attempting to obtain it the way it was intended. Here is a video showing the autosave reload trick that originally appeared on the Playstation. I had already played through the game almost 2x before trying to get this cheevo again. I did NOT delete or move my save file. I did NOT delete the game or it's Day 1 update. I went NG+, selected Ch. 2, and played up to the autosave just before the enemy to kill. Once I got to that checkpoint, I ran into the house ahead of me and killed myself on the tripwire. Then I followed the video and the cheevo popped after I stealth killed the same enemy 5 times.

Hope this helps...

I did this in Chapter 2, which is probably the best place to do it. Now, I know some people are having problem with this achievement not popping up but I know a solution. I didn't bother doing anything with my save data or installing the game again because I really didn't think I was going to get the achievement anyways but after doing the same strategy over and over again (killing the same 5 enemies in a row) I actually got the achievement. So, if the achievement doesn't pop up, just try again until it pops up. It's worth it, believe me.

This achievement is really easy to unlock and you shouldn't worry about it.

Where in the game you're gonna choose to do it it's up to you. Personally, I did it in chapter 4. But the most important thing is not where. It's how.

You should do it after you get your hands on the Agony Crossbow. Simply kill 5 enemies in a row using Flash Bolts. Don't worry if there's more than 1 enemy close to you, once you shoot it, all of them will go blind. Approach the one you want to kill and crouch (cn_RB) near them. You don't even have to get behind them, any direction you approach is fine since they are blind. Then, while crouching, press cn_A to kill them. As soon as you kill one of them the blinding effect on the others should expire. Walk backwards a bit while your character reloads the gun. Fire the second shot and proceed according to the above instructed. Now, you can only carry 2 shots from this weapon at a time, so as soon as you finish your second kill, walk away from the enemies (in case you are fighting a bunch of them) and quickly access the inventory menu (cn_RS) to craft 2 more flash bolt shots and continue the killing.

The great thing about this method is that it doesn't really matter if the enemies see you and come to attack you. Once you blind them it will count towards this achievement.

If this solution helps you in any way, please leave it a thumbs up to let me know. Thanks!

Glitched Trophy: Several players are having trouble getting this trophy to unlock. The counter for the trophy is rather buggy and sometimes requires more kills before the trophy will actually unlock. If getting more kills still wont unlock the trophy for you, then delete your profile data and reload the game. Attempt to fulfill the trophy requirements again.

This trophy is fairly self explanatory and the earliest it can be done is in the beginning of Chapter 2: Remnants. You will come up to a shack in the beginning of the level where a tutorial message will tell you how to perform a stealth kill. (PS3: Hold R2 to crouch walk and press X behind an unaware enemy) After the tutorial kill, assuming you were successful, simply perform 4 more stealth kills on enemies in the upcoming village without being detected. Hitting the enemies with bottles counts as being discovered, and throwing bottles to alert enemies to a certain area can negate the trophy. If you are having difficulty with being spotted during your stealth kills, you can drop your difficulty down to Casual. In Casual mode, an eye icon appears at the top center of the screen to note if an enemy is about to see you or if you've been spotted.

Alternatively, you may reload your checkpoint near an enemy you can easily stealth kill and repeatedly stealth kill him to earn the trophy. The trophy should unlock after your 5th consecutive stealth kill.

As the description is self explanatory it's also glitched. Good work around is wait until its your last trophy and copy your save to flash drive if you wish to keep them. Next delete everything including the application, eject, reload and play up to chapter 2. You will come to a part where you see people transform silent kill the one infront of you forget the guy along the side of house. You will come across an autosave when your close to cart. There will be enemy just infront of a fire, you want to sneak left go along giant hay stack, jump fence and silent kill. Wait a few seconds and reload autosave. Rinse and repeat. My trophy unlocked on tenth kill FYI, i think i wasnt waiting long enough between kills to reload. Hope this helps.

You can kill them easily in ch. 2
Just go to the far left side and you find a zombi inside a house.
Start from there and you almost find them all not looking at you.
Then go to the house on the far right and the last one, he has a torch, will be waiting to pop up the trophy.

Simply kill 5 enemies without being detected. You can do this on a few maps. Easiest would probably be Chapter 13. There is a section that starts where you see a keeper walk into a flaming room.

There will be an enemy down the hall to the left. Wait for him to turn around, take care of the trap and sneak kill. At the intersection, you will see a fake Ruvik heading your way. Stay hidden and watch him. He will turn into the room near you and once he enters follow him but do not get too close. He seems to notice you when you get close while he moves. Your moment to strike is when he stops and looks side to side. Stay on the other end of the wall near the door after he enters the room and wait for him to stop. Then sneak and kill him

In the next room which is kind of the same room since there is no wall. There is another haunted by the door outside. There should be a bottle you can use to your advantage but you should be able to sneak up on him without it. He moves back and forth and the distance is pretty short. You will need to be quick with him.

Your 4th victim will be in the next room. Hang by the exit to the balcony area but dont sit outside. A haunted will appear outside eventually on the balcony next door. Wait for him to turn back inside and then go for the kill.

After you kill him you can slowly move forward. You will see a bomb on the wall. You can move a bit past it but do not get too close to the hole in the wall to your right. Wait a little distance away and another fake Ruvik will appear. He will walk out and then turn to his right and stop. You can then go for your 5th victim. There are still another two haunted around. One is somewhere down the hall and the other is in the room fake Ruvik #2 came out of.
