Here is my 100% Achievement Guide!
This is for completing the level for riding across the swamp.
To make things a lot easier, destroy the pike, using dynamite and placing it on the tree that is blocking your path.
With that, you not only get an achievement for killing it, but no pikes show up aftwr this one, so you only have to worry about the platforming sections
Go to 35:00 in my video to see exactly where this is done and to see the start

killed it the first time, died, didn't think I needed to kill it again. I see your point because if you don't kill him, he gets you near the end (even if in the boat). I don't think it is possible to beat without killing the pike or without incredible luck

Previously this was a 2-3 Hour Completion and required Full Playthrough with the Secret Ending.

please add a note to kill the pike, even if you've gotten the achievement. I found it impossible to beat the level without killing the pike. He would eat me at the end of the level, even if I was in the boat.

Ok. I will add that. I was able to beat the level without killing the pike, but it could help those who are stuck here.
