How to unlock the Descendants, Assemble achievement in The First Descendant - Definitive Guide
This guide is for players who don't intend to purchase the Descendants from the in-game shop.
First Descendant is what you start with in this game. And I would recommend starting with Viessa because she is the only Descendant with a Chill Attribute type. You can start with Lepic and Ajax too but there are other Descendants with the same attribute type. This will help in completing Void Fusion Reactor missions (later in the game and will come in handy for this guide)
Second Descendant will be Bunny as you get her parts as part of story progression (& tutorials) with a minor hiccup. During your first Void Intercept Battle with Grave Walker (basically a full version of the one you got in the Prologue), make sure to select the third Amorphous material (it should be labeled as "Bunny") when you interact with the floating sphere post defeating the boss, here in this case, the Grave Walker.
To get full details of any Descendant you intend to unlock, simply select the view button on your controller and select "Access Info" > "Descendant". Apart from Bunny there are 3 Descendants that you can unlock without needing to research individual parts. They are Freyna, Sharen and Blair.
Lets start with Freyna. Because she is the earliest of the three to unlock in this list. Once you select her on the Descendant page, you will see 4 parts that are required. Hover over each part and press X to get the mission(s) you need to complete in order to get that part. However, there is a catch. There is only a 20% chance from the Special Operation missions and 38% chance with Void Fusion Reactor missions (for which you need to complete Void Fragment missions multiple times and get the corresponding Amorphous material). As I said, it comes down to luck. I personally got lucky as I got her parts in 1st & 2nd tries.
Now instead of grinding missions for Sharen when you reach Sterile Land & Echo Swamp, I would highly recommend you to first complete the story with the 3 Descendants and rank them up as you go.
Because in this game, enemies do not scale with you. They scale with the region. So once you hit level 100, you can go back to the areas and wiping out enemies a lot faster. And making your grind very easy. You can ignore Freyna too but you might have a hard time in Boss Battles that are resistant to both Chill and Electric types. So having a 3rd Descendant always helps (they should be level 30+ too so best level up Descendants parallely).
Another thing I would like to add is that you can access all the Special Operation missions from Albion by going to the (o) icon on the map instead of going to that specific zone and running over there. Its because every time you complete any Boss battle or Special Operation, game will drop you off at Albion. So its easier to replay the missions.
Note: I personally couldn't get a single Sharen part after running her missions 5-6 times each and I had couple parts for Valby already so I just pursued her and was honestly easier than unlocking Blair lol. Worked out for me as now I got Descendants of all Attribute types including Valby who is Non-Attribute type. Feel free to share if I missed anything or got any piece of information wrong.

It looks like Blair is unlockable from Hagion too. Starter, Bunny, Freyna, Sharen and Blair is 5. You'll probably have to go through Hagion anyway to get your 2nd mod enhancer to upgrade a special weapon.

The drop rate for Blair is obnoxious. I’ve done Bio Lab probably 25+ times and no drop. I feel as if the 20% chance is a wee bit off…
Edit: Don’t lose hope… It took a while but it happened. Also don’t waste energy activators, cuz the 3% blueprint chances are atrocious.

This achievement is somewhat self-explanatory, but also it'll take some time to figure out how to get all the materials to unlock new Descendants. Let's start with what you get by going through the story.
- You will pick a starting Descendant from either Ajax, Lepic or Viessa. That's one out of five!
- You will unlock Bunny automatically through a side-quest very early in the campaign. All the research materials for her are 100% drops from main story missions, so just keep going in the campaign and once you get all of them you'll just need to complete the research with Anais in Albion.
- You will get another side-quest for a new Descendant at about halfway through the campaign, this time for Freyna. However, her materials are slightly more complicated. These also drop from main story quests, but are only 20% drops, so you may need to run the missions multiple times to get them. Enhanced Cells drops from "The Shelter" in Vespers > Timberfall. Stabilizer drops from "Ruins Path" in Vespers > The Lumber Yard. Spiral Catalyst drops from "Ruins Underground Entrance" in Vespers > The Ruins. Her last research item will require using Bunny to complete a void shard mission in Sterile Land > Rockfall, which requires Electric damage to destroy the shard. Complete this three times to get enough materials for the next step in the side-quest chain to complete a Reactor nearby, which has a 100% drop rate for her Freyna Code item while on this mission. With all those items in hand, spend 400k gold and wait 16 hours to unlock Freyna.
Now, the last two Descendants you unlock are up to you, but the two easiest are likely Blair and Sharen.
- Sharen: All of her items have a 20% chance to drop from main story missions. These are as follows: Enhanced Cells from "Seed Vault" in Echo Swamp > Abandoned Zone. Stabilizer from "The Chapel" in Echo Swamp > Derelict Covert. Spiral Catalyst from "The Asylum" in Agna Desert > Vermillion Waste. Her Code is from "Caligo Ossuary" in Agna Desert > The Mining Site. With all the items in hand, spend the 400k gold and wait 16 hours to unlock her.
- Blair: All of his items also have a 20% drop chance from main story missions. Enhanced Cells come from "Mystery's End" in White-night Gulch > Moongrave Basin. Stabilizer is from "Bio-Lab" in White-night Gulch > Hatchery. Spiral Catalyst is from "The Haven" in Hagios > The Corrupted Zone. And finally his Code is from "Old Mystery" in Hagios > Starfall Road. Once again, 400k gold and 16 hours later you'll have your final Descendant for this achievement!
Note: If you're farming a mission and don't get the item you need, you can view the mission results with + and then hold to re-enter matchmaking right away rather than going back to Albion, then back to the zone, and entering the mission from the spot on the map. Also, despite a 20% drop rate, that does not mean you're guaranteed to get it after five runs. Remember that percentages are an average over time. For every person that gets it on their first try, there's another who gets it on their 20th. I was fairly lucky with all my drops except for one Blair item in the Bio-Lab that I literally did almost 30 times...
The remainder of the Descendants in the game all need extensive farming to unlock, as the four main items you need to research them need to be crafted individually rather than getting them as drops from missions. The Codes for each of them also only drop from Intercepts or Fusion Reactor missions, which require farming of their own (amorphous materials) to even attempt, and they still have a low RNG chance of dropping from the associated Intercept battle!
You can of course always just purchase the final two Descendants, especially if one catches your eye more than the five listed above. But this is by far the easiest way to get the achievement, so if you're looking to keep this game free, those five are the way togo.

If you play without donation, then, in addition to the first one, it is easiest to knock out: Bunny, Frayna, Sharen and Blair, simply because you only need to knock out 4 components, for the rest, for each of these 4 components you will need 4 more additional ones
