How to unlock the Descendants, Assemble achievement in The First Descendant - Definitive Guide

This achievement is somewhat self-explanatory, but also it'll take some time to figure out how to get all the materials to unlock new Descendants. Let's start with what you get by going through the story.

  • You will pick a starting Descendant from either Ajax, Lepic or Viessa. That's one out of five!
  • You will unlock Bunny automatically through a side-quest very early in the campaign. All the research materials for her are 100% drops from main story missions, so just keep going in the campaign and once you get all of them you'll just need to complete the research with Anais in Albion.
  • You will get another side-quest for a new Descendant at about halfway through the campaign, this time for Freyna. However, her materials are slightly more complicated. These also drop from main story quests, but are only 20% drops, so you may need to run the missions multiple times to get them. Enhanced Cells drops from "The Shelter" in Vespers > Timberfall. Stabilizer drops from "Ruins Path" in Vespers > The Lumber Yard. Spiral Catalyst drops from "Ruins Underground Entrance" in Vespers > The Ruins. Her last research item will require using Bunny to complete a void shard mission in Sterile Land > Rockfall, which requires Electric damage to destroy the shard. Complete this three times to get enough materials for the next step in the side-quest chain to complete a Reactor nearby, which has a 100% drop rate for her Freyna Code item while on this mission. With all those items in hand, spend 400k gold and wait 16 hours to unlock Freyna.
Now, the last two Descendants you unlock are up to you, but the two easiest are likely Blair and Sharen.

  • Sharen: All of her items have a 20% chance to drop from main story missions. These are as follows: Enhanced Cells from "Seed Vault" in Echo Swamp > Abandoned Zone. Stabilizer from "The Chapel" in Echo Swamp > Derelict Covert. Spiral Catalyst from "The Asylum" in Agna Desert > Vermillion Waste. Her Code is from "Caligo Ossuary" in Agna Desert > The Mining Site. With all the items in hand, spend the 400k gold and wait 16 hours to unlock her.
  • Blair: All of his items also have a 20% drop chance from main story missions. Enhanced Cells come from "Mystery's End" in White-night Gulch > Moongrave Basin. Stabilizer is from "Bio-Lab" in White-night Gulch > Hatchery. Spiral Catalyst is from "The Haven" in Hagios > The Corrupted Zone. And finally his Code is from "Old Mystery" in Hagios > Starfall Road. Once again, 400k gold and 16 hours later you'll have your final Descendant for this achievement!
Note: If you're farming a mission and don't get the item you need, you can view the mission results with lb.png+dpad-left.png and then hold button-x.png to re-enter matchmaking right away rather than going back to Albion, then back to the zone, and entering the mission from the spot on the map. Also, despite a 20% drop rate, that does not mean you're guaranteed to get it after five runs. Remember that percentages are an average over time. For every person that gets it on their first try, there's another who gets it on their 20th. I was fairly lucky with all my drops except for one Blair item in the Bio-Lab that I literally did almost 30 times...

The remainder of the Descendants in the game all need extensive farming to unlock, as the four main items you need to research them need to be crafted individually rather than getting them as drops from missions. The Codes for each of them also only drop from Intercepts or Fusion Reactor missions, which require farming of their own (amorphous materials) to even attempt, and they still have a low RNG chance of dropping from the associated Intercept battle!

You can of course always just purchase the final two Descendants, especially if one catches your eye more than the five listed above. But this is by far the easiest way to get the achievement, so if you're looking to keep this game free, those five are the way togo.
