How to unlock the The Kingdom achievement in The Flame in the Flood - Definitive Guide
Alright guys, to get this achievement you just have to beat the Campaign mode.
Do it on Traveler difficulty, so that you get checkpoints at nearly every region (there are ten whole regions) rather than dying and having to go back to the very beginning. Here are some tips:
Food
Meat is your best option for food, especially when you find enough salt to stockpile jerky. Jerky doesn't spoil whereas normal cooked meat does after 6 days.
The best way to get that meat early on is rabbits; do this with box traps. Snare traps break after one use, but box traps can be picked up again after catching one rabbit.
Later on trapping rabbits will be harder, because they become more scarce, and boars and wolves become more populous. It is easy to kill them, however, by using spear traps. Spear traps are pretty inexpensive and are pretty easy to use. When you see a boar/wolf take out the spear trap and place it in a good location. Lure the beasty into it, and one hit kill.
Yucca is also a good source, if you run low on meat. So pick it up if you can and cook it later. They don't spoil either.
If both these sources of food become too scarce and you are running off fumes, don't forget you can eat cattails and dandelions. A stack of cattails can give you +20 nourishment and a stack of dandelions will give you +10 as well. Mulberries are far more scarce than these two, so I wouldn't try stockpiling those.
Water
Water isn't as problematic a need as food is, but making sure you have a water filter on-hand is still important. Get a water filter by grabbing the charcoal from fireplaces. You need 2 to make a water filter and each campfire only gives you 1 piece. Each water filter is good for 3 jars of clean water.
You will come across taps/wells in city-type regions and farmhouses (there is always a clean water source in farmhouse locales) every once in a while, but they are only good for 1 drink or 1 fill of a jar. So use those wisely.
You can also fill an empty jar with clean water when it rains (Tip Credit to terrett101)
If you have to drink polluted water, don't sweat it too bad. You'll get listeria, but that will go away once you start drinking clean water again. If you can make penicillin to cure it than that would be ideal as well.
Defense
You should always keep a campfire and torch in your bag once you get deeper into the game. Wolves will sometimes jump out on ya, and being able to pull out a torch can save your life. I never bothered with distracting wolves with rabbits or tainted meat. If a wolf comes at me (or a huge group of wolves), I took out my torch and booked it to the raft/campfire.
I never used the bow and arrow either. I tried once, I shot a boar in the face but it didn't kill it. So I just stuck with spear traps, torches, and campfires. If you happen to not have a torch and you are far away from the dock, try and run to any nearby buses/houses/churches or anywhere you can sleep. Sleep inside there to hide and when you wake up, the beasty will most likely have gone back to its resting place.
If you see a crow, make sure your stamina is full (the blue bar), sprint at the crow and press when you come near it. Crows will caw out when they see you and then wolves will come. You'll know when the crow cawed out loudly when the red lines come out of its mouth. Sometimes there won't even be wolves around, but better to be safe.
Steer clear of snakes. If they bite you, and you don't have the resources to treat it, you will die in half a day. Don't use a torch on snakes either; they are attracted to fire. That goes the same for campfires.
Later in the game, bears will start being a thing. If you dock somewhere and there is a bear, just steer clear of it and don't even try fighting it. However, if a group of wolves comes down on you, lure them to the bear and the bear will fuck them up. Once the bear has killed a few, grab their meat and run. You don't want to wait and have the bear come after you too. Once I did reach the region with a lot of bears, I pretty much skipped it. I had enough food to just float to the next region. So keep in mind that skipping docks is the way to go in a lot of cases.
Clothing
Getting pelts from animals to make clothes is also very vital. Near the end of the game, you will be dealing with a lot of heavy frequent rain. You'll need wolfhide/boarhide clothes to get by as well as a rabbit pelt hat and pair of mittens. As I said before don't try and get the bear hide stuff, if you're looking to not die.
I did craft one inventory pouch out of rabbit pelts to get by as well. I think you can craft more which is great, but I got by using the one. My inventory did get pretty tight near the end, however.
This is also why you should have a campfire in your inventory, or the ability to craft one, at all times. You will get really cold and sopping wet, and when the rain finally stops, you'll need to find a dock and warm up to prevent hypothermia.
Raft Upgrades
Stockpiling nuts and bolts as well as old lumber, can save your life. Craft repair patches as well when your raft is near death.
I didn't get any upgrades except for the rudder, and I got through to the end. I never died due to beating up my raft, but you might find it harder. So a hull upgrade might be worth your time.
Alright, those are my basic tips. Keep in mind that you'll probably die a bit, but once you restart at the checkpoints, the docks change. They'll be the same type of location, I believe, but their contents will change. So if you keep starting the same checkpoint with an affliction or great hunger/thirst etc., keep checking the locations for the things you need.
If you have anything to add, tell me in the comments. :)
Good luck!

Might be worth adding for Water - you can refill jars with clean water when it rains. It rains a lot, especially earlier in the campaign. I never had to use filters on my playthrough of the campaign.

When you enter the tenth zone, head for the buoys. If you entered the zone at night, some of the buoys will glow.
