After you escape from Cuba and are back in New York for the first time you will be given the chance to recruit your first solider right away in the compound.

Another can’t miss trophy. This will also come towards the beginning of the game when you’re told to expand your family.

After Cuba you will be taken to New York where you will be given the task of hiring a soldier for your family. In the next room there will be two candidates - a medic and an arsonist. Choose the one that best suits your playstyle, but I recommend a medic.
