Story related, just defeat him. As other bosses just run around them avoiding their attacks. This time you'll have to kill as many of the soldiers as you can so you're not overwhelmed later. At one point Lyra will call you to throw a snowball which will put out his flame thrower. Once done you'll get to slash him. Rinse and repeat 4-5 times.
