To provide a little more detail on how the rivalry system works and what it will take to get this achievement:

Once you've reached the PGA Tour in career mode, you have the opportunity to be assigned a rival after a tournament. I received mine after the first tournament. From then on, each tournament you play in against your rival, you will compete for 7 possible points as follows.

1. Low Score
2. Low Front 9
3. Low Back 9
4. # Birdies or Better
5. Bogey Free Round
6. Worst Score on a Hole
7. Best Score on a Hole

At the end of the match you'll each be given points for the categories you've won. In the case of a tie (common for the last few categories) you will both be awarded the point.

You must get a total of 45 Rivalry points to win the rivalry. This means you'll have to play a minimum of 7 rounds against your rival in the PGA Tour. I earned mine after 8 rounds after missing several "Bogey Free Round" points in the first 7.

When you play through the career mode, eventually you'll be assigned a rival to compete against. Performing better than them in events you compete in awards you points. Simply reach the point total before your rival to earn the achievement. Difficulty does not affect achievements, so playing on easy you should be able to net this achievement with no issues within your first season. Go into practice mode to work on any areas your rival might be outperforming you in.
