How to unlock the FIR Collector achievement in The Golf Club - Definitive Guide
Fairway in regulation means hitting the fairway on your first stroke. This does not apply on a par 3, so you can do poorly on those while still getting this achievement.
Select PLAY at the main menu to choose modes and select courses. If Little Brook Manor doesn't appear as a suggestion, select More and it should be on the second page of suggested courses. Little Brook Manor has good, wide open fairways. The only difficult one was a par 5 that was bisected by water; club down so your ball doesn't go flying into the water.

Just wanted to add do not hit a green in 1 on a par 4. it ruins your FIR.

Must this be earned in one single 18-hole round? Or can it be achieved with more than 1 round?

Further to DrCanadianNinjas solution, I would point out that the fairway in regulation does not have to be any set distance (and does not include Par 3's).
So if you are struggling, or want to make it easier, hit an 8 iron, or even just punch a driver so wind can't play a part. If it only goes 30 yards but finishes on the fairway, it's still ok.

I found this one quite tricky, and am not familiar with golf terminology which made it even harder.
A “fairway in regulation” (FIR) is where your first shot lands on the fairway.
It doesn’t relate to par, or really any shot after the first, so don’t worry if you mess up after the first shot, go off the fairway, end up in a bunker, etc.
So this achievement is for getting an FIR on each hole of an 18 hole course. Again, you just need to hit the first shot onto the fairway, then finish the hole, continue through the course and repeat 18 times.
After trying and failing a lot to get this while playing courses normally, I figured out an easy way which worked first time:
Firstly: boot up “Little Brook Manor”. (It’s good to have this one favourited as it’s useful for other achievements)
Second: switch to the “Lob Wedge”, it’s the “75 yards carry” club to the right of the “Putter”
Now you’re going to just take a swing with the Lob Wedge as your first hit. You should hit the fairway. Then go ahead and finish the hole with any club you like. You just got your first FIR of 18. Now repeat this for the other 18 holes and you should get the achievement!!

FIR or Fairway in Regulation means nothing more than land the ball on the fairway with your first stroke off the tee. Not very complicated, isn't it? I'll recomend playing "Little Brook Manor" to get it easily.
One thing i am not sure about: If you have to hit the fairway on a Par 3 hole too, or if you can directly aim for the green. If you know, please let me know in the comments.

FIR should only count for par 4s & 5s.

Not 100% sure. But I think that applies for all holes.

Regulation is a term that relates to getting par for the hole and subsequently, par or better for the round. For fairways, you can't land in the rough or off the fairway with a tee shot at the start. For greens, you need to land on the green one shot or better under par. So off the tee, if you don't land on the fairway with your very first shot, you aren't in regulation. I suggest Little Brook Manor because it is easy and will allow you to try for multiple achievements on the same course.
