How to unlock the Ace achievement in The Golf Club - Definitive Guide

First hole on the Long Pond Par 3 Course. My secret is using the 8 iron, bring the shot sculptor up with the LT and moving the white line up to the top of the "A". Course never seems to have more than 1 or 2 MPH winds so not a lot of correction needed. If you miss the shot Restart. Took probably 30 swings to get it.

I had a 14mph wind straight east. Took me around 50 tries to get the aim down but with that wind, I aimed just to the right of the tall tree off the left side of the green. I used a 100% straight shot and used the shot sculptor to move the white line up to the top of the A - something like 90% distance. Popped Eagle achievement as well as I hadn't unlocked that yet.

The wind always changes. The key is simply to work out for your wind what the best combination of direction and shot power is and keep trying.

The wind stays consistent for a period of time. I tried for about half an hour with a 12 MPH wind due east. Came back an hour or two later and it was 8 MPH southeast instead. Got the hole in one but no achievement; just hoping that it's a case of the usual delays.

This took me well over a few hundred tries...finally got it with a 7 mph wind directly south, thanks for the video!

Thumbs up from me! However, after 3 straight hours of missing on hole 1, I decided to just play through and got it on hole 8. If anyone else is struggling, I highly recommend just finishing the course since your brain and fingers are already in hole-in-one mode.

So... I had an 11mph N wind, went down to a 9 Iron and adjusted to around 90% strength and it took me about 30 attempts.

Great video also!

I've probably shot on this damned hole 200 times...I've rolled ball over the hole three times and hit the pin twice. It is nice that they've patched the game so that the wind changes more often now making it even tougher...not that they'd fix the sound and performance issues.

This is the most frustrating achievement i have encountered on the xbox one. The fucking wind changes every shot, it is impossible to hit the ball perfectly straight, and even if you do, there is a standard deviation for your shot that adds a retarded luck aspect to the game. Throw all that garbage together and you get this awful, awful achievement.

I've probably put 200 shots into this so far. Between wind changing every shot (so I can't actually take the time to adjust previous shots) and me hitting the pin once and holing out about 4 times, it's getting very frustrating. I know at this point, it's just a matter of luck. My friend got this achievement, in just that exact way, so on I go!

Wow, great guide. I feel fortunate to get it in only about 10 tries. The wind was very consistent...always blowing 2-4mph and mostly the same direction with a little variation. It also popped the "Score an Eagle" achievement.

Finally got it after maybe 150-200 tries. Now that the wind is changing each shot it has really come down to luck. There were so many close shots.

After playing with this off and on for two years I finally got it with 9 mph hours to the west. I aimed pretty far to the right, I have a natural small slice on the controller, played a little with the sloping and it finally went in the hole. It was only 1 of about half a dozen tries that day, but this took forever as I've been playing this game here and there since 2016. This achievement right here though is complete luck, I don't care how you slice (or hook) it.

tried this over 200+ times now on separate occasions and not once has the wind blew in the direction of this video. I always seem to get 6mph to 12 mph sw and the wind changes speeds every shot. Hit the flag twice, hit the pin twice, bounced over the hole a few times, stopped short a few times, and my favorite one was.... rolls into the hole and magically ricochets off to the right and that's when I decided to check this guide. this video would help, but wind never goes that way. Any more suggestions?

I can't imagine surgeons even getting this right 100% of the time... So my biggest issue was getting consistent swings. Slightly left or right will just ruin your shot. What I found most consistent is using "the claw" method which is controlling the right stick with both your thumb and pointer.

My second issue was getting the trajectory and adjusting for wind. Using the D pad, I felt it was more consistent for these areas and counting the number of clicks for the left/right of the angle and shot modifications.

Edit: Finally got this achievement 7+ months later after getting somewhat fed up with RNGeezus blowing the ball all over the course or my inability to hit the ball straight everytime.

I got this on the 1st hole of the official course Long Pond Par 3. There is no short cut way to do this, and it will involve a lot of trial and error, but with patience you should be fine.

First up, club selection and power. The 8 iron you are given is fine, but you need to take a bit of power off of it. The best way to do this is hold LT and move the white line up so it is in the middle of the two red lines. You then need to make sure you always hit the 8 iron at 100%, or you wont reach.

Next to aim you need to adjust for wind. Whilst this seems to vary every time you start, it always seems identical when you restart the course. So if you fail (which you will!), just hit start and restart the course.

The key i found was using the background to mark your aiming. I had a 5mph wind left to right, and used the trees behind the green to mark where aimed, and then from there adjusted my aim based on whether my ball was left or right of the pin.

What makes this bit tricky is that the way you swing will affect this. So if you swing dead straight and the ball ends up just left of the pin, but the next swing you put on it is a bit ropey and was right a bit, you will find your shot ends up in a different spot. So via trial and error you need to roughly find the right aiming location, based on the wind, and then make sure that your swing is consistent. Again, i found with constant repitition, I got there in the end.

Lastly, you want the ball to land about 1 yard to the left of the hole, for as it rolls up towards the pin, it will drift right a bit.

Good luck, and just keep going. It took me about 45 mins to get this, and god knows how many retries!!

The same hole as the others... hole 1 at the Long Pond Par 3 course.

So it appears the wind setting can change from player to player... in my case 11mph in the Northerly direction.

The 8 iron is too long... the 9 iron is still too long unless you modify your shot, hold the left trigger and (for me the top red line was listed as 86%) move it up just a few lines so it's less than halfway between the two red lines.

Aim wise there are two white trunked trees to the left of the hole to use when you line up, its not really the sort of shot to give a definite aim spot as this can be rendered pointless if you get any shape on the shot.

Essentially this set up should land the ball at the front of the green and bounce up and run onwards into the hole.

Took me maybe 15 attempts.

I got my lucky shot on The Equinox Club hole 1
Advices:
- Wind changes slowly over time, if +6 Mph better leave and try later
- Don't waste time trying to compensate for stronger winds
- If you can't get straight swings, try to swap pads or use a firmer controller
- Try use a rubber band to auto pull up the pad and get consistent swings

OFFICIAL COURSE is important to remember here, so no cheating! The best option for you will be Long Pond and the very first hole. Any par 3 hole in the game will work, but this one is straight and usually no winds. It's mostly luck based, but you will see over time how to regulate your shot for power and direction in order to nab this one. Take a swing, note the ball trajectory and placement... rinse and repeat until you get it.
