How to unlock the Lady of the Sheep achievement in The Good Life - Definitive Guide

The sheep races become accessible from Douglas McAvoy at McAvoy Construction once you have completed Route A (main quest), under the “I wanna race!” option

The target times for the sheep races are as follows:

• Trial 1: 39 seconds or more remaining
• Trial 2: 52 seconds or more remaining
• Trial 3: 32 seconds or more remaining

Some tips for the sheep races:

• Make sure your default sheep’s stats are boosted as high as possible. This can be done by riding the sheep around and smashing barrels/boxes using cn_RB

• In order to get your attributes above level 5, take a sheep to visit Samuel S Bergman in the Old Castle grounds (you can teleport using the Old Castle Shrine to speed things up)

• Learn the routes: while you probably won’t have too many problems with Trial 1, Trial 2 and 3 can cause some issues. Make a mental note of when the coffins will pop up, and which way to turn after certain fences

• Use boost efficiently: Whilst it may be tempting to use your boost (cn_RB) as and when it’s available, it will slow you down if (more like when) you collide into objects. To knock seconds off your times, only use the boost when you’re faced with smashable objects such as boxes and barrels (and make sure you save some boost for the end of trial 2 where there are barrels at the end)

• It seems the PC version of the game offers better control over your sheep than on the Xbox version. If you're struggling, it may be worth attempting the sheep trials on PC using either keyboard or mouse (The Good Life supports Play Anywhere so your data should automatically sync) - Thanks to Rossco7530 for the tip, and Larvi1 for confirming

Competing in these races will also give you progress towards the Sheepmanship Virtuoso achievement:

I didn't have to complete the races under time as the first race of the day. Got the achievement while doing subsequent races in a single day.

Just tested this and you're right. Updated the solution. Thanks!

I uncovered an oddity that you may not realise unless you play on both Windows and console, or perhaps with different controllers.
I started on Windows, with a 3rd party wired controller. When riding the sheep, I would accelerate to full speed almost immediately on holding cn_RT.
When I swapped to console (Series X with Elite 2.0 controller), there was a real wind-up on the sheep, around 2 seconds worth. It made these races almost impossible.
Fortunately I could swap back to Windows. If you are experiencing slow acceleration on the sheep, consider changing systems or controllers if you have the option. Happens all the time, not just in the races. Not sure why.

Thanks Rossco! I couldn't even beat the 1st trial in dozens of attempts on my XB1, tried it on the pc with a crappy wired controller and got all 3 trials done in 1 or 2 attempts. Big difference, not just in wind-up time but could also turn much tighter on the PC. Appears to be a huge dead zone on the Xbox which doesn't exist when you play on the PC.

Didn't realise there were differences in the sheep handling between PC and Xbox as I suffered through the sheep trials on console. Updated the solution to reflect this (with credit)

Glad it helped. I wasn't sure if it was just me. Thanks for the solution.

race 2 take the shortcut to the right. And in all races when you need to make a sharp/fast direction change instead of pushing left or right try to push down and left or down and right. I found the turns must sharper. My PC sucks so it didnt work trying on there.
