Just wanted to add that you can speed this up quite a bit if you just go and sleep. After you upload your first photo on the crappy 90's computer, go to the bedroom and sleep for six hours. The girl from town will show up and tell you not to go out at night. Then sleep three more hours and you're free to go snoop around townl.
