How to unlock the Veteran Fighter achievement in THE KING OF FIGHTERS 2002 UNLIMITED MATCH - Definitive Guide

Big thanks to Rion X21 who gave me the tip.

First, unlock Omega Rugal (beat him in TEAM PLAY mode), then go to practice mode and into the command menu.

Now, simply make a macro for his level 1 strong Kaiser Wave (F-HCF+SP), and put every frame value at 1, this should look like this :

F1, B1, DB1, D1, DF1, S(F+SP)1

It will perform the move flawlessly every time.

Now just hang back in a corner and spam it. The AI is very likely to run into it every time, and it also does good chip damage when blocked.
Don't bother doing anything else, you don't want to take any risks.

EDIT: added how to unlock O.Rugal

I used the method you suggested in your solution but why using a macro? Kaiser Wave is easy to pull off. As Omega Rugal is so cheesy I also mixed in some of his other moves like strong versions of Wind Slices (D, DF, F + SP) and of course Genocide Cutter (F, D, DF + SK) which is a pleasure to throw at the AI for a nice change (I faced him as a boss countless times back in my PS2 days where he spammed that unfair move against me so it was my time now to rip apart the weaker opponents ^^). Also his low SK is good to sweep an approaching opponent. I got rarely cornered but in that case his MAX SDM Gigantic Pressure (D, DF, F, DF, D, DB, B + LP/SP) helped tremendously to gain the upper hand again and to push back the opponent. It costs 3 power stocks outside MAX Mode and 1 in Max Mode. By spamming all these special moves you should quickly build up your power stocks to the maximum of 5. His MAX SDM Gigantic Pressure is also fun to watch as Rugal goes all out piercing opponents with his Orochi powers laugh.

I still needed 2 tries/full runs against Omega Rugal himself in the 65th fight. Here it is better to just rely on Kaiser Wave to keep him at distance (and it was still difficult to handle him like that). Everything else just provokes him and is punished immediately by his aggressive patterns. Unfortunately I lost Xbox Live connection due to network issues on Microsoft's side when I made a pause around the 45th fight in my second run and didn't see it by the time I came back to finish the remaining fights. So no time stamp on this achievement...

Great solution! Worked flawlessly first time! One small improvement could be made to this solution by mentioning that Omega Rugal is unlocked by beating him in TEAM PLAY mode (he's the final boss).

Possibly the greatest solution of all time. Thanks! It made a very difficult achievement into a gimme.

Use infinite special gauge and abuse ultra-move, I used Nameless, Robert and Yamazaki if I recall correctly.

Worked perfectly. A few characters might get a hit I here and there, but you do get some life recovery after each victory.

Just another side note. All Boss characters can also be unlocked by failing an Expert Challenge 300 times. I found #17 to be the fastest. Failing the Normal Challenges can also unlock the Expert ones if you don't have them yet. Turbo controller helps in that regard.
