How to unlock the You're not so bad! achievement in THE KING OF FIGHTERS XIII - Definitive Guide
The first tutorial is completed by doing what they say.
The second is the Guage Tutorial and that's where things get a little wierd.
For the first Max Cancel you have to input the first move and then hammer the "B" button instead of trying to input the 2nd move. Why? I can't explain but it works.
For the Second Cancel you need to be in HD mode.
To do this you need to press HP and LK (Y & A) at the same time.
This seems awkward but is easily done by simply pressing all 4 buttons at the same time (X, Y, A, B). Just put your thumb in the middle of all of them and press down.
Once your character is in HD mode complete the first move and then quickly do the 2nd. It won't be too long before you get the Cancel and the achievement will unlock for you.
This game is playable with the 360 controller but I recommend the 360 Fight Pad. Just a little easier to input moves with the larger D Pad.
Hope that's helpful to some people.

The tutorial commands are not clear.
The Drive Gauge must be active in second cancel (Y + A)
Some Drive CANCEL commands may need to have a button charged. Specially the second Cancel.
- Drive Cancel:
Input 1rst command with Y and immediatly slide the finger to button B. The direction inputs seems to overlap. So no need for the last 3 directionals.
- Max Cancel:
Do the first movement and press and hold the button (X - LP), He will charge for 1 second. While charging, do the directional commands of the Second Special, release X and press the two buttons required (X+Y).
In the tutorial you have two Tutorial Systems you must complete for your trophy:
- Basic System
- Gauge System
The Basic System teaches you movement, how to jump and hop, roll, the basic fundamentals to moving when playing KOFXIII. While it is pretty basic stuff learning your hops will be very important as mentioned in the roadmap.
The Gauge System may be a bit difficult to those new to King of Fighters XIII. The biggest difficulty with the Gauge System tutorial is getting the timing on the Drive Cancel and MAX Cancel. Through a little trial and error you will come to understand the timing with the cancels, you have to input them REALLY FAST for the cancel to happen.
During the Tutorial you will see two unique icons that aren't in Trial mode:
- : Drive Cancel
- : MAX Cancel
These icons don't mean anything special they are just there as an indicator of what will happen once you do the input correctly. Additionally there is one more icon that may unknown to new players:
- : Hyper Drive Mode
This icon should appear at the end of the Gauge System Tutorial, all it means is that you must go into Hyper Drive Mode which is done by pressing .
