Just a note that this particular achievement can bug out. In my first save it's been stuck tracking at 99% for ages. Hopefully it'll be fine in a second file, I'll note that here if so.
Edit: Starting a second save worked fine, it was just something with my first save.

On your second save you had to start over from 0%? I hate when games have buggy achievement trackers, ugh.

Yes, on my second save I had to get all 1000. The tree is pretty good for it, the things that spawn a swarm of enemies seem to count each individual enemy in the swarm.
