There’s a few steps to get this. I was around 14 hours into the game.
1 - Do the recruiting mission for the weapon smith Danys Belfort when it’s offered to you. Make sure he lives and makes it to the escape in the mission.
2 - Do the recruiting mission for the healer Mother Amina when it’s offered to you. Make sure she lives and makes it to the escape in the mission.
3 - Outside a mission, RB to select Allies menu. You’ll need enough aether currency (red baggy AET at to right of screen) to unlock the first two middle research choices for both Dany’s and Amina.
4 - Choose any of your characters. Equipment something in all six of their slots. You can buy equipment, consumables and accessories from the Supplier tab of the menu if you don’t have enough picked up from missions.
