This is can be missed first time through. I went through the gate after it unlocked after 4 forlorns and couldn't go back. Had to start a new game. Luckily I was only at the Pig Marsh. Be warned.

Weird, I was able to go back through that gate right away after entering it. I mean I already had the 7 Forlorn from the forest, but nothing was stopping me from going back as far as I can tell.

Yeah, seems you can go back to any of the older areas from the Crossroads, nothing is stopping you. So your game might have glitched, or you just assumed you were being pushed forward and couldn't go back. You can't go back immediately once you enter an area for the first time, but once you finish and head back to the Crossroads you can. So the flags seem to be correct, nothing is missable.

This trophy will unlock when you’ve helped all the Forlorn in the Forest. There are 7 in total. Only 4 are needed to continue on with the story but all 7 are required for this trophy. For a more in depth guide on where to find them and how to complete the puzzles associated with them, please see the Forlorn/Ember Location and Puzzle Solution Guide found here: LINK. If you need just their locations without any puzzle solutions, please see below.

  • Forest Forlorn #1 "The Guiding Light": Story Related/Cannot be Missed.

  • Forest Forlorn #2 "A Fragile Flame": In the area to the left of the Campfire. It's inside a cave up on a hill.

  • Forest Forlorn #3 "The Forsaken": In the area to the right of the Campfire. When you get to the next screen, follow the path down and to the left. Go up the small hill and then climb up the rock wall to reach the Forlorn.

  • Forest Forlorn #4 "A Solitary Way": From the Campfire, take the path leading to the right. When you get to the next screen (The Pond), follow the path right and go through a lit pathway. When you reach the next screen, you'll be at another Pond with a stone frog in the center. Just opposite of the broken wooden pier is a pathway leading down. Follow this as it curves to the right and climb up the rock wall to reach the Forlorn.

  • Forest Forlorn #5 "Congested": In the same area as the previous Ember ("A Solitary Way"), go back to the pond with the single Frog Statue in the middle. Just to the right of the pond is a hill leading up. At the top of the hill will be another Frog Statue. Pick it up and take it down the hill, then place it on the platform opposite of the other Frog Statue. When you do, a secret cave will open up. The Forlorn is inside the cave.

  • Forest Forlorn #6 "Unhindered": You'll need to have awoken the Fisherman (see Fisherman's Awakening) and will also need the Worm for this one. In the area to the right of the Campfire ("The Pond"), stand on the pier and a large red frog will appear (only appears after the Fisherman is woken up). Interact with it and give it the worm and it'll take you to a cave where the Forlorn is.

  • Forest Forlorn #7 "Submerged": You'll need the fixed Fishing Net for this one. When you have it, go to the area to the left of the Campfire. There will be a small area locked behind a gate. Make your way up the hill to the left and walk along the top of the wall to scare the bird (you will need to interact with it to get it to fly away). It'll drop the key into a pond on the left. Make your way over there and use your newly fixed Fishing net to fish it out of the water. Use the Gate Key on the locked gate door where the last Forlorn is.
