How to unlock the The Lone Fighter achievement in The Last Remnant - Definitive Guide
You get this for defeating the boss as part of the side quest "The Villian and The Sightless Girl". This quest can only be triggered very late in the game. To trigger this quest you must have recruited Loki from the guild in Athlum and you must have entered Underwalt (note: don't enter Underwalt until you've defeated The Fallen or you'll miss a 140g achievement! And the chance to get two more 200g cheevos later!) and progressed the story past one cut scene in Underwalt. After that cut scene a teleporter will appear. The quest is now available, you don't have to enter the teleporter, in fact it's probably best not to in case the quest dissapears (I don't think it does, but just to be safe).
To trigger the quest you also have to exhaust all the conversation with Loki. He stands outside the guild in Athlum once you've recruited him. It's best to recruit him early and then every time you visit Athlum go and see if he has a red bubble over his head and talk to him. If not you can always just keep exiting to the world map and re-entering Athlum until you've spoken to him 3 - 5 times (can't remember exactly).
Once all that is done you can talk to a girl in Athlum's town square (she sits on the wall surrounding the Valaria Heart). Once you've spoken to her once head to the pub in Athlum and speak to Loki once more to trigger the quest. Phew!
Don't read the rest of this guide if you like to figure out boss battles for yourself without any help. Or if you want to be surprised about what the boss is :)
The boss is the Welkin Dragon. It's pretty tough and has a lesser dragon to help it. The Welkin Dragon will do a breath attach at the end of every round and the other dragon at the end of every other round. So you can get smashed with 2 vulcan breaths/dark breaths at the end of some turns. Attack the lesser dragon first until it's dead (although if you don't time everything correctly it casts Mend on itself and gets half it's hit points back once it's in the red! Fortunately it only seems to do this once). Keep at least two unions alive with enough health to survive the breath attacks each turn and so raise any that have died. Usually The raised unions and those who raised them are far enough away from combat to not suffer too much from the breath attacks anyway, so it's not too hard.
