When fighting the final boss for the first time I suggest using fire to attack the boss when he is on the main platform. Take your time and allow yourself to regain health. You will need to use water at a distance as it is the only element that can hit him when he and his clones are out on the little rocks.
In order to get the SS trophy from the final boss you need to get at least a gold medal on the level.
