How to unlock the The Hero of the People achievement in The Legend of Tianding - Definitive Guide

Just so you know, hardcore is not a mode unlocked after completing the game in one of the two difficulties. It's just the most difficult between the two.

I completed the game in what I thought was normal dreading another run even more difficult, but there isn't. So yeah, it's hard but it's just a matter of being patient, learning patterns and NEVER going for more than 3-4 hits at a time. 5 if you finish with a shadow horizontal move (cn_left or cn_right + cn_B )that moves you behind the back of the boss. NEVER.

Also, there is literally no reason for you not to go for all the exploring achievements as soon as you unlock a new area. You reached the boss and the achievement for fully exploring didn't pop? Go back to the starting Chō and replay the level.
You will earn money, that you will give to beggar, that will give you small buffs that will add up to an actual difference during the fight.
Of course, never forget to pickpocket (using cn_Y ) each enemy 1 times at least, as it will give you more money and possible buffs for the weapon they were equipped with.

Regarding this, quick tip for the ones that struggles with quick reflexes close to the boss during face to face fights: ALWAYS put effort in pickpocketing all the range weapon (stones, molotov, grenades and rocket launchers) to gain the relative talisman and buffs. All the bosses will have at least 1 or 2 moments where you will be able to pickpocket them. If you have the range weapon talisman, instead of gaining their weapon you will steal whatever weapon in the talisman equipped.

This will allow you cheap damage that will save you at least 2-3 close up damage steps. Even more if you already have the shadow clone ( cn_RB just before being hit) and you wait for your clone to be at your side.

In the last boss, with rocket launcher and 20% buff, you will go to 1/2 his life to a quarter of his life in few seconds while he is still recovering from you avoiding is full screen slash if you land all 4 rockets plus shadow copies.

Finally, again regarding the final boss, remember that you have the gliding technique to avoid hitting the ground while fire or ice modifiers are applied. I totally forgot (as it is just introduced in the last dungeon) and I probably waste 20 to 30 tries for nothing.

Good luck. I really enjoyed this game.

The last boss for me is the absolute most difficult so far even will all the items
and all talismans found and having the demon slayer sword
His health just doesn't go down

I Managed to finally beat him and it took me ages the very last part was actually the most frustrating avoiding all the beams with no health and no buns not the hardest boss I've faced this year but close but such a fun game

Can anyone confirm whether this can be done by changing the difficulty and beating the last boss, without playing the rest of the game on hard?

I spotted you can change difficulty at any time during the game, so wondered if this might be a quick solution. I've enjoyed the game, but I'm not sure I want to play it again.

@Drewcadaver In steam page it said "Complete the game on hard without turning down the difficulty." for the same cheevo, so I think I need to make a second walkthrough to get it as I remember switching down to lower level few times..... cry

The difficulty level is called 'Wanted Outlaw' for those who wanted to confirm the specific name; there's no explicit hardcore difficulty mode.

I've been playing it on "easy" mode, and still found some of the bosses hard… I might give the "normal/hard" mode a try after finishing the story
But if I feel like I've hit a difficulty spike/wall 🤣, I'm not going to suffer through

@ForvdenJtsu so, did you have to replay the whole game or was it just a matter of restarting the last boss on hardcore?

^ You need to play the whole game as per the achievement description. There is no shortcut.

That's what I thought, thanks for confirming. Now is there any point in starting the initial run in hard? Or do you keep items/levels from a normal run?

Is every achievement can be done in 1 playthrough on hardcore? Or it's best to play on lower difficulty first?

A note on the final boss in hardcore mode: it's not quite the same as on easy mode, this boss has a third form. It's a shadow form that flings projectiles at you. Don't panic and avoid them; eventually he will use a familiar move that his second form used - the one that you counter with a carefully timed RB button, when the circles line up. Get this right and you win the game.

@Drewcadaver I'm going to wait until the patch arrives that fixes the unobtainable achievement (the one for getting all achievements) then I will test your suggestion as I've just completed the game on easy and unlocked boss rush mode. 🙂👍

I have all other achievements so, if this doesn't work, I might do a quick replay on Hard mode ignoring all sidequests and collectibles (maybe get enough cash for max bins and demon sword) and try my luck on the final boss.

I'll treat it like a Dark Souls run in my underpants without levelling up that some crazy people can do 😂😂👍

Since there seems to be some confusion in the comments, I was even confused myself before starting the game just now.

There are two difficulty modes, Gentleman Thief, and then Wanted Outlaw. You want to pick the harder of the two, Wanted Outlaw. There is nothing called "Hardcore".

After playing the first level and boss so far, this difficulty doesn't seem bad at all. Seems to be the way the game was meant to be played, so normal, but they also added in an easy mode.
