How to unlock the Phantom Kunoichi achievement in The Legend of Tianding - Definitive Guide
This achievement unlocks for beating the games 3rd boss Kawajima Kaguya. I didn't find her too hard when I exercised a little patience and wasn't too greedy when getting my hits in.
She has 3 phases, the first 2 of which are easy, the last gave me a bit of trouble. She will start by changing her position to 1 of 3 places. The top platform, or on the ground at either side. Quickly get too her before she puts her parasol away. I usually hit her with a flying kick (Forward+) and hit her with no more than 3 regular attack before rolling away. Obviously if she's up in the platform do a dragon kick instead (Up+). As you're rolling away she should flash and drop some bombs which you'll avoid. If she uses her butterflies attack, flying kick her again and attack 3 more times and roll away before she drops the bombs. If you're lucky you'll also trigger shadow clone for some bonus damage when she moves to her next spot.
Avoid straying too far from her. She has a few ranged attacks she'll use if you're not in her personal space. One of which is a pain to avoid, which I referred to as the rush attack. This is telegraphed by a thin beam aiming at you and she'll quickly dart across the screen dealing massive damage to you, so try to avoid provoking that at all costs.
Be quick to chase her. if you remain up in her grill she'll typically use her butterflies attack at first followed up by the bombs. Don't count on her using the butterflies first though, stick and move and return to her with a flying kick and a couple of regular attacks.
Use when you see it above her head to move to phase 2. It's more of the same but she's more inclined to use her rush attack. As soon as you see this jump and dodge with . Again, if you're lucky it'll miss, and if you're really lucky you'll trigger shadow clone.
Phase 3 is much tougher on hardcore. She'll immediately start in the middle. Go to edge of the screen, but close enough to hit her with the four bombs you now have. Dodge through the tornado. She's going to throw the beam attack again so jump, dodge and resist the urge to start attacking just yet, just keep moving. Once she drops from the ceiling, keep rolling away from her, making sure you get plenty of distance because she'll then use a lightening attack that covers a good portion of the room. Once you have avoided all of that, repeat the attacks in the same way as the previous phase, don't get greedy and make sure you kick followed by no more than 3 attacks. Repeat this process a couple more times and she should go down.
With the buns, I recommend using them if needed when she's either on the top platform or just after you've used on her as these are the only times you'll have breathing room.
I used the talismans for extra jump and extra health from buns.
