How to unlock the Master of Modes achievement in The LEGO NINJAGO Movie Video Game - Definitive Guide

This achievement appears to be either buggy or have an inaccurate description (possibly both). Ideally, though, it's pretty straightforward.

What you're supposed to do it go to one of the "Battle Arena" areas (accessible from either the fast travel map or in the hub areas, often right after you finish a story mission). Head in here and play all three game modes once (you have to go down to "customize game" to change the mode).

There are three modes: "Samurai Showdown" (where you fight over four flags, and the longer you hold on to them, the more points you get), "Mystic Bounty" (where you collect orbs for points), and "Ultimate Ultimate Weapon" (where all players fight for a box and hold on to it to score points).

While the description says "play" each mode, it appears you have to actually win at least some of your matches. If you play all three and the achievement pops, great. If it doesn't, try re-playing a mode that you didn't win in the first time, and try to win (in my case, I re-played Samurai Showdown and won, but never actually won a game of Ultimate Ultimate Weapon). If you're having trouble, put in some dummy controllers so you have fewer AI to fight against.

It's entirely possible you won't have to deal with this issue at all, but if you do, hopefully this trick will help. If I made an error or you have anything to add, leave a comment and I'll edit (don't just down-vote with no comment, that doesn't help anybody).

I just played all three game modes once and won each match first time, and the achievement popped straight away for me afterwards.
Just to be sure i also choose the same character & map for each of the three matches.

Just confirming what DJ Batfink has said. I picked KAI as my character stayed in the same map. I won the flag and orb modes but game last in the ultimate mode and still got the achievement. Remember to do the power ups as you go like I did.

so you can play this full screen cause i tried one of these and hated it lol

You can play full screen with all 3 opponent slots as AI.

If anyone is having trouble winning the "Ultimate Ultimate Weapon" mode I found a really easy way to win it. On the City level grab the chest and run up the fire engine and get onto the roof, then cross the thin bridge and just wait there.

The AI cannot hit you on the bridge. Now I did get hit eventually by someone below with the dragon power up but by then I was 200 points clear :D

I won each game mode but over different sessions and no achvt.

Similar thing for the power ups - I had to get them all in one match for it to pop - but assume if I’d done multiple matches in the same Xbox session it would have been ok

Also, a tip that makes this a bit easier. Once the match starts, if you pause the game and go into Options, you can force Full Screen, which makes it a little less confusing. As beets101 said, you don't need to win, but …. y'know, if you wanna...

Attempted this achievement at first before looking at this solution and it didn't pop after completing the first mode in one session and the other two in a different session without thought of which character i chose, however won each time. Tried again after using Kai for each mode, winning each time and completing all in one play session and the achievement popped.

This can be attained after completing "Location 1 - Ninjago City North" and unlocking the "Secret Ninja Base" with the Battle Arenas being accessible from the main map (it's an island located south of Ninjago City Downtown).

There are 3 game modes that need to be completed: "Samurai Showdown", "Mystic Bounty" & "Ultimate Ultimate Weapon". During these games there are 6 pick-ups to find and use:
- Cat Head
- Cloud
- Dragon Head
- Flames
- Musical Note
- Snowflake

There is no need to win these games for the achievement to unlock so just spend the time moving clockwise around the map (best to pick Ninjago City) collecting and using power-ups.

When the 5 minute game is finished select "Customise Game" to pick the next game mode.

Following this will also unlock:

Battle Arenas unlock once you’ve opened up the school (Secret Ninja Base) in the interlude between Location 1, ‘Ninjago City North’ and Location 2, ‘Ninjago City Beach’. They can be accessed directly from the map when you press or at the Battle Arena stations (marked by two crossed swords on your mini-map).

There are three game modes in Battle Arena. To win them all, you basically have to earn the most points.

  • Samurai Showdown - You earn points by carrying flags. Defeat players to carry multiple flags to earn more points.
  • Mystic Bounty - You earn points by collecting artefacts (glowing orbs). You earn more points as you carry more artefacts, but if you are attacked you drop them all.
  • Ultimate Ultimate Weapon - There is one weapon on the map and carrying it earns you points.

To unlock this achievement, you only need to complete a match in all three modes; you do not have to win them. Each mode should take you less than 10 minutes to complete.

The game has only three game modes:
Capture the Flag;
Collection of spheres;
Holding the chest.
It is necessary to carry out one battle in each, in any arena.

The trophy is glitchy. If you have played a game in each mode and didn't fall, keep playing and try to win just in case. I fell on the 8th rink after two victories in a row (and a total of two)
