I didn't get this first go, so I dashboarded, started the game back up, hit continue and tried again. This worked for me.

Never worked for me. I've you are not fast enough the achievement is missable.

I can confirm the dashboard out and back in works.

It'll only saves the failed attempt once its complete. If you aren't sure if you've done it its best to dash out until you think you've nailed it.

Also, the reason I failed it the first twice is because I went to press Y to open my inventory and it closed it instead. After pressing X to retrieve the orb, IT WILL AUTOMATICALLY OPEN YOUR INVENTORY. So just press down twice to select the orb and quickly move your cursor over to the second machine pressing the appropriate button.

What is supposed to happen here? I tried this several times and I am afraid I missed it. I followed the instructions exactly. The door didn't open. How do you know if you have failed or succeeded?

If the door doesn't open you've done it wong/too slow. Dashboard and try again.

The door stays open for a short while if I recall. Need to be reasonably quick about it.

Yeah but if the achievement doesn't unlock or you can't leave the room, that's a good sign you've been too slow.

The dashboard trick worked for me with no issues still.

You don't have to dashboard. I just paused it, exit back to main menu and loaded it again and popped the achievement when I did it on my 2nd try.

I was going to go back and see if the dashboard truck works. But the game license seems to have been removed for me.

You don't even need to dashboard, just use "load game" from the in-game menu if you mess it up.

i can confirm you dont need to dashboard quit, just exit to main menu and choose continue, the trick is place the orb in the second console before the second beep, if you place it after the second beep its too late, but as long as you just quit to mainmenu then choose continue you get an unlimited amount of attempts.

I second Segendary Ty's comment that NoHeroes94's original comment should be ADDED to the guide and the walkthrough. I kept failing to get it, but I also kept closing the inventory, then walking to the second console. After I did it this way (just leave inventory open and place item from there, without physically going to console), I popped the achievement. I can also confirm that you still get many attempts, using the dashboard technique.

SIDENOTE - When I finally popped this achievement, I thought I got it and the door opened, but the achievement did not pop. It seemed I did it right, so I stood there for about a minute, but nothing happened. I assumed I must not have done it correctly, so I dashboarded out again. While I was out was when the achievement finally popped. You may get a delay when you do it right, so I recommend still waiting and eventually dashboarding out, in case you are not sure if you got it or not. That way, you give a delayed achievement time to pop if necessary, but you also dashboarded out, in case you have to try again.

Just did the dashboard quit out method after failing and it loaded me in with the orb on the second console.

Edit: Picked up the orb so it was in my inventory, then dashboarded. Achievement popped on next attempt.

You don’t need to dashboard and close/relaunch the game. If you don’t do it fast enough, just quit the the main menu and then click Continue to return to just before putting the orb in the machine.

Another +1 for noting in this guide (and the walkthrough) that the inventory automatically opens and to avoid pressing Y closing it.

I was exiting at the menu. Do NOT press once you take the orb out of the first console. It will just close the menu and you don't have time to being it back up again.

@cuttully same worked for me, I dashborded out to avoid missing this but was gutted when I see it was sat in the second machine, but taking the orb out and doing the swap around fast enough still popped the chievo

Had the same problem as CatTully just now. Can confirm her suggested method works by just exiting out to main menu, no need to dashboard from what I can tell. No idea if this will screw my speed run attempt but oh well.

I had trouble with this but I can confirm the following.
If you are not fast enough in your fast try, pick up the orb and then dashboard it. Reload and go again. It works.

Also, I kept pressing Y and closing the item menu, once you pick it up the item menu will automatically open. It’s X, select orb, A.

This is the worst achievement ever. I'm done with this trash game.
If I was any faster my fingers would have caught fire.
Joke developers. Rubbish game too, almost fell asleep every time I tried to play it.

Thank you Skittle. I dashed and reloaded and it was in the 2nd spot and thought I didn't dash quick enough. Tried it again and got it! Glad I saw your comment.

I miss at my first try because I didn’t know you have to press X to remove lightbulb .... remember x to remove then put it in the other generator

Thanks for all the comments. I thought I missed it when I dashboatded, quit, continued and found the orb already in the console. As other said, I just took it out and tried againand it worked. Took me 3 tries.

FYI: I played this via cloud streaming on PC and doing … -> Quit Game did not work like quitting to dash on console so I had to replay to get this one.

rholliday No but just loading from inside the game probably would. Everyone sleeping on that you don’t have to dashboard…

That's useful to know. I'll add it to the guide.

I want to add some clarity to the dashboard/retry scenario. If you don't make it the first time and dashboard out (hit the Xbox button to go to the guide, then menu button and select quit, then restart and continue the game) the game will reload with the orb already in the right console. THIS IS OK! Just take the orb out of the console, and retry the puzzle. So long as your attempt includes only one placement in each console for that game instance, the achievement will pop.

just to let you know the dashboard quit method still works.
i'd put off doing this as had got to this stage and mucked up months ago.

gave it another go today mucked up several times the orb was in the right hand console even went back n forth with the orb before quitting. but as i hadn't successfully opened the door as i think you need to place orb before 3rd beep kept going and was going to replay to same spot to get achievement.

anyway after 5-6 attempts of dashboard/quit achievement popped

After you pick up blue orb again, your inventory remains open, so use d pad to scroll down to blue crystal, then straight to 2nd opening. Achievement popped. This was my last one to get and had to play through to get to this spot again. Only took 15 mins

I missed this on my first try. I Dashboarded out to Xbox home and selected Start on the game and selected Quit. When I restarted and Continued, the orb was still in the second machine though :( - so I guess I didn't dashboard out before it saved? But the good news: I popped out the orb, and gave it another shot, and this achieve popped! So I guess I sortof dashboarded out before it really saved the fact that I tried the first time somehow.
