The Long Dark (EP)

The following is a guide on how to obtain the “Black Black Heart” achievement in The Long Dark for finding and picking up all 4 blood-stained notes containing history of Blackrock.

These notes are scattered throughout the region, so be prepared to make treks to a few different areas of the map. Pack a flare or two, as you’ll quickly notice the abundance of wolves around this region.

Note #1
The first note can be found right after you are sent out to the infirmary of the prison as part of your first quest. On your way there, you'll come across the car depot with a large metal bus in it. In the back of the bus (last seat in the back) has the first bloody note resting on top.

Note #2
The second note can be found inside the Foreman’s Clearcut trailer, on top of a workbench. Foreman’s Clearcut can be found straight to the right of Cook’s Farm’s Barn on your map.

Note #3
The third note can be found in the Old Substation, which will be marked on your map in the beginning (same as Cook’s Farm’s Barn).

Note #4
The final note is in Locker #3 in the prison guardhouse. You need Locker Key #3 to open this locker- see the below for that.

Locker Key #3 can be found in a car located in a shed nearby to the Jailer’s Residence. The Jailer’s Residence is located shortly north of Cook’s Farm.

After picking up all 4 notes, you should pop this achievement. Good luck!
