The Long Dark (EP)

You only need to craft an improvised hatchet and an improvised knife. No arrowheads required.

Requirements are listed in the crafting menu (5 scrap metal and one cloth for the hatchet, two less scrap for the knifie), but other than those:
- a furnace;
- lots of fuel - you might want to get some wood too to get the temperature up without coal, but eventually you'll need coal itself, 5 units at least, if i remember correctly, but likely more than that; there's plenty around though usually, so this isn't much of a nuisance; I'd advise to bring some extra to keep the fire burning long enough for you to craft since it's quite an endevour and you might just not want to do this more than once ;)
- a heavy hammer;
- food and water - the process lasts a while (5h for crafting alone), stockpile some.

Two places you can do this (since you need a furnace):
- Desolation Point
- Forlorn Muskeg

At Desolation Point you'll likely find a hammer at Hibernia Processing, some scrap (or a hacksaw to make it) should be there too, and you can get coal from nearby mines. The furnace's at the Riken - the ship stuck in the ice. Bring something to light your way, the Riken's insides are pitch black.

At the Muskeg there's a hammer (not sure if it's a 100% spawn though) by the crates at the huts near the furnace, some coal at the caves and at the drowned house near the furnace and scrap all over the place (most notably by the Poacher's Camp - derailed trains by the railway). The furnace itself is at Old Spence Homestead - at the southern (left hand side when you enter from Mystery Lake, right if you come from the Broken Railroad) bank of the swamp. Watch out for weak ice - it blocks out some paths from the north.

The products of said crafting are pretty useless, they're heavier than the typical knife and hatchet you probably already have and you can usually live without any of them by the time you get to craft the improvised ones.
