The Long Dark (EP)

As of the redux update, the way this achievement works has changed.

You need to do two side missions:
- The basics of survivial
- Survivial school
To start the missions you need to find some books, then do some tasks related to the book.

The basics of survivial
(Side mission in episode 1. If you didn't do this in episode 1, or lost the savefile, its possible to do it again in episode 2)



Episode 1 locations:
- Medicinal plants of Great Bear:
In the Milton Post office.
Task: Find the items, and make 3 Reishi tea, 3 Old man's bear wound dressing, 3 Rose hip tea.
Reshi mushrooms grow on the side of tree stumps.
Old man's beard lichen hangs from low branched trees.
Rosehips are bushes often found close to buildings.

- A sewing primer:
In the town of Milton, upstairs in the Grey Mothers house.
Task: Repair clothing 3 times.

- Field dressing you kill, vol 1:
On the workbench in the shed by Paradise Meadows Farm.
Task: Place and catch 1 rabbit with a snare. (Place the snare in a area with a few rabbits, and wait)



Episode 2 locations:
- Medicinal plants of Great Bear:
In the northern trailer, outside the dam in Mystery Lake, on the table in the corner.
Task: Find the items, and make 3 Reishi tea, 3 Old man's bear wound dressing, 3 Rose hip tea.

Old man's beard lichen hangs from low branched trees.
Rosehips grow on bushes often found close to buildings.

- A sewing primer:
In one of the unlocked lake cabins in Mystery Lake. (the one next to cabin #2)
Task: Repair clothing 3 times. (there is a sewing kit right next to the book)

- Field dressing you kill, vol 1:
In the hunting lodge in Broken Railroad. On the shelf to the left, as soon as you enter the lodge.
Task: Place and catch 1 rabbit with a snare. (There is a snare right next to the book. Place the snare in a area with a few rabbits, and wait)



Survivial School


Episode 2 locations:
- The Frozen Angler:
Is in the camp office in Mystery Lake, in the chair to the right as you enter
Task: Fish 5KG of fish. (search the fishing huts for line and hook. Theres a knife to break the ice in the southern fishing hut)

- Advanced: Guns Guns Guns!:
In the Poacher's camp in Forlorn Muskeg, on the ground inside one of the train carts.
Task: Kill 1 wolf in each of the 3 maps. Forlorn Muskeg, Broken Railroad, Mystery Lake.

- Frontier Shooting Guide:
In the hunter's blind, near unnamed pond in Mystery Lake
Task: Kill 1 deer.

Once both side missions are completed, the achievement should pop.

Since the Redux update in December 2018 the requirements for this achievement have changed quite a bit. Jeremiah's survival school is no longer a chapter that you have to pass to advance the Wintermute storyline. It is now a stand alone side mission.

The mission first starts when you reach the Mystery Lake region and it consists of 3 tasks. But to trigger the tasks you need to find the corresponding book. I wasn't really paying attention to where the books were so some of this is educated guess work.

1.Catch Fish. I think the book is in the Camp Office (near the centre of the Mystery Lake Region) and the task is to catch 5kg of fish. You may need a few hooks & line which can also be found in the camp office. Then head out to the little huts on the lake, clear the ice hole (prybar, knife or axe will do it) and get fishing.

2.Kill Wolves. You need to kill a wolf in the 3 regions of Mystery Lake, Forlorn Muskeg and Broken Railroad. I'd suggest doing this while you progress the story, you really don't want to hike all the way across Forlorn Muskeg just to kill a wolf in Broken Railroad. The book to trigger this task is found at the poachers camp in Forlorn Muskeg. Just follow the railroad tracks to the crashed train and the book is in the open railcar near the fire barrel. Credit goes to N8 VIsion for the location of this one. :)

3.Hunt & Kill a Deer. The book is in the hunting blind out by "Un-named pond" which is on the west edge of the map. Killing a deer is pretty simple business as long as you have the rifle on you.
