How to unlock the Living Off the Land achievement in The Long Dark - Definitive Guide
Turns out this is really super easy, but you might have to prepare a bit. I wouldn't suggest shooting for this right away. You're going to need very warm clothing. Go for the mountain first, and do this while you're doing your 500-day run. If you're looking for a challenge, do it on a harder level, but I did it on Pilgrim because I didn't want to run the risk of investing 50 hours to lose it in a bear attack at the end. Animals don't attack unprovoked on Pilgrim. Your call. Things may be the same on harder difficulties.
On Coastal Highway are a lot a fishing huts out on the ice. Take a lot of fishing tackles and as much wood as you can carry out to one of them. Hooks can be made with scrap metal; fishing line can be made with cured cuts. There are a lot of limbs lying around on shore and the islands, and you can raid a house for more wood. You should also have a couple of sewing kits, and grab cloth from the curtains in the houses. Take it all with you.
You should also have the hunting rifle with you by this point. You can use any hut you like, but I strongly suggest the one with the door (see the video below). The door cuts off the wind, although you will still have to deal with extreme cold. You'll want to save your wood for melting and boiling water at the stove in the hut.
Now fish and fish and fish. Keep reeling in fish, cooking them, and eating them. You'll have more than you can handle, but the cold will keep them from spoiling (which is a huge benefit to staying in the hut). When you make a fire to cook the fish, boil as much water as you can at the same time.
When you have a lot of fish, you can skip through days. Pass time (the card icon under Campcraft) in 12-hour increments, then sleep for as long as you can. Remember to drink and eat along the way. You use around 1200 calories or so per day. That's 1-2 fish per day.
The other advantage to this hut besides the door: it's right next to a bear cave. In the video you see me run up to the hut and shoot the bear from distance. That was some luck. I've also hit a bear 4 times (blood spraying and all), and it still got to me. (Quick! Quit and reload!) What you can do is shoot him and then quickly run into the hut. The bear won't get you in there. Then you can...wait for the bear to die.
Twice I've shot the bear and have it run off, then found the bear on the ice near the shore. When you look out of the hut, look left toward the shore, and the bears died there. Now you can go harvest them for 40-70 lbs of meat (and a hide and 10 guts). It'll take a few trips, but hike that meat back and cook it in your hut. One bear (with some earlier fish) got me through 25 days easily.
Alternatively you can set up camp in a house, but your meat may spoil before you eat it all, and the goal here is getting through days.
If you want to stay for longer (if you're finishing your 500 days), just rinse and repeat. Make sure to keep your bedroll in good condition, or you'll lose a warmth benefit as well as a place to sleep.
Hope this helps!

This one might be a little buggy, I'm on day 75, ate only meat for at least 35 days and it didn't pop. Not sure if anything is blocking it. Will monitor that.

That's weird. I started on day 61 and it popped right on time at 86. You're not drinking coffee or tea, are you?

Unlike the Pacifist and Silent Hunter achievements, you don't have to do this right away.
You have to eat nothing but animals that you've killed or caught for 25 days in a row.
DO NOT eat any raw fish or meat you find in fridges this will reset the clock, Including fish or plants that you find while beachcombing.
Eating or drinking any processed foods is a big no no for this achievement, including coffee and tea.
Consuming any medical item is fine, as long as it doesn't give you calories (drinking rose hip, bark, and reishi tea is fine as long as you've made it yourself).
It's best to get yourself established on the island first and have sort of firearm to make hunting easier, if you haven't found one then fishing is suitable alternative.
This is much easier to achieve late game as you would either have eaten most of the processed food or it has gone off by the time you've found any, and you would be relying on animals to keep you alive.

When you killed the bear for the Wrapped in Furs trophy, this is a good moment to start your 25 days. A bear leaves you 40 KG of meat, if you cook it you can keep it for very long time. If you killed the bear in a good area like desolation point you can kill wolves and rabbits as well or fish if you're on the coastal highway. This will easily last you 25 days, if you rest most of the time.

It’s better not to rush to get this trophy, you can complete it when you accumulate a lot of timothy (it doesn’t spoil), a lot of firewood and several fishing rods, the fish are endless.
If you fish in a house without a door, you can combine it with the “Under the Starry Sky” trophies
Spend 3 consecutive nights out of hiding (single player) and
and a burning fire for 3 days in a row
