This is it - the final boss fight.
The final boss can be located inside of the Angry Caverns - usually deep within. You're looking for another red area, this time called the "Shadow Orc Domain".
Make your way through the Shadow Orc Domain until you come to a room full of bones - if you don't already have the Dragon Spear, the door will be closed to you, and if you do have the spear with you, you will be able to open the door to the final boss fight.
***How to Prepare***
Personally, I'm a big fan of bringing materials to set up mini bases/camps. A small hearth and some bedroll(s) will go a loooong way when it comes to annoying fights, and this is no different.
The fight starts with the dragon sitting in the middle, periodically shooting fireballs at you. Your goal is to make sure you are behind the large stone pillars (the ones with wooden structures attached), so that the fireballs hit the structures, eventually crumbling them. *There are two stone pillars that DO NOT break, they have the smaller wyverns sitting on top of them.
After all the pillars are broken, there should be two (2) wyverns that come down to attack you.
(My game glitched out on the 2nd playthrough and the 2nd wyvern never came down! I had to use quick platforms to climb up to it on its perch and kill it.)
After the pillars are down and the wyverns are dead, the boss will fly off. You'll find a small door on a raised platform in the room, where you'll continue along the path to a room with a large stone column to climb. Make your way up, killing or avoiding the wyverns as you go, and at the top you'll find a free teleport stone. Take this time to set up a hearth and bedroll(s), just in case you die in the last fight, and make sure to repair your armor and weapons!
After you're ready, continue along the path to the final fight. This room, like before, has pillars that you'll have to first break down using a pickaxe. After the pillars have been broken, the boss' health bar with appear, and you're free to start poking it with the Dragon Spear. (this section was not hard in my opinion)
Reduce that health bar down to nothing and voila! You have killed the Shadow Dragon and unlocked the final story achievement!
