How to unlock the Hard-Headed achievement in The Maw - Definitive Guide
The first time (or only time if you don’t have the DLC) that Maw receives the Beetull power is in level 7 ‘Beetull Smash’. In the area where the four Beetulls are sleeping, there are two pieces of burning debris from the crash that are resting in different corners of this area. I chose the piece in the far right corner as you enter the area. To get this power, you have to attach the wrist device to one of the spiky orange explosive objects by pressing B, and pull it out of the ground. Drag the explosive object with you so that you are standing between a Beetull and the burning debris. Press A to slam the explosive object towards the Beetull. The Beetull will become angry and will charge at you. At the last possible moment, press A to dodge out of the way, and the Beetull will run past you and ram into the debris. This will daze it and make it safe for Maw to eat it.
You can ram parts of the crashed spaceship, the egg-shaped plants, rocks, and large creatures. Maw charges in the direction that his ‘lead’ is facing, even if Frank is facing in a completely different direction. To use the power, press A to charge and steer with the left joystick. Maw will not stop until he hits an object that cannot be smashed, such as a rock pillar, or the sides of the valleys. Also bear in mind that you cannot return to an area once you have seen the cutscene that shows you charging away from it. If you are in doubt, always ram the creatures and objects in the middle of an area before you ram anything at the sides, as the debris that you are ramming at the side of the valley could be the debris that is blocking your exit out of the area and there is no turning back.
There are more than enough objects for you to get the 50 needed in level 7, although you also get this power in the ‘Brute Force’ DLC level providing you with more opportunities. You can also replay levels and your progress will carry over if necessary.

Might be worth adding that the things that get smashed during the cut scenes do count. Mine popped in the middle of one. Might also be worth adding that to steer while charging you have to push the left stick in the opposite direction you want to go.

You'll first see a Beetull in level 3, but you won't earn its power until Level 7: Beetull Smash! Press to have Maw charge ahead, dragging you in its wake. There are more than enough objects to earn this achievement during Level 7.
