Story related- Some what self-explanatory. Just jump down the waterfall at the end of the Bamboo Creek level.

You'll visit The Shop one last time and learn about the "area boss", leave the shop, go below for a giant Time Shard, climb back up and exit right. You'll find yourself standing on top of the waterfall. As you're falling, you'll have noticed an opening in the wall on the right, ignore it for now, you'll backtrack there towards the end of the game with the proper abilities.
