How to unlock the I'm Your Biggest Phan achievement in The Messenger - Definitive Guide
Phantom is more on the tricky side rather than difficult. He's going to throw a bunch of combination attacks at you like detonating energy balls, electricity along the ground and walls, mirage technique where he follows you around the room so the key here is to take your time and don't try to rush your movements.
He'll start out by shooting off a single ball of energy which homes in on you. The ball will detonate in multiple large energy balls if it hits the ground or walls so try not to be too close to it when it detonates. Or if you prefer, you can slash the ball back and forth with Phantom about 5-6 times until it eventually it explodes on him and stuns him.
After dodging his initial attack, he'll land in the middle of the room, so take this chance to hit him a few times as he's performing his next attack where he do a "time warp" the inside of the room and makes electricity appear on the walls and ground. You need to jump through the distorted safe spaces and hook shot the little pink spirits to hop over the electricity from one side to the other until he gives you a chance to slash him. Pay attention to his enraged state because the electricity in the distorted space will cover the entire ground and walls except for the safe spaces, making it much more difficult to navigate. You will need to continuously be jumping and hook shotting to safety.
After he's done distorting space around you, he will summon extra copies of himself and home in on you, similar to the Demon General's spinning blades attack that followed you around, only this attack has a bit less range than the blades so they are easier to avoid. The goal here is to single out the real phantom among the copies and hit him which immediately puts a stop to his attack and opens him up for 5+ hits. If you've hit him enough at this point, he'll move on to the next attack.
If you've hit Phantom enough he'll move on to his next attack where he summons a giant cursed mask in the background with a couple of candles and a ring to hook shot yourself across the room. The eyes fire beams that track you around the entire room so you'll need to move quick. After you stopped his mirage attack, you'll have a moment to slash him and he'll prepare this attack right away, this is your chance to get on a wall in anticipation of the beams and stay ahead of them. If you're quick enough, you'll be able to make your way to the other side and slash him before the beams try to make another pass at you but I wouldn't recommend it. Keep your health up and just avoid the beams and force him to restart from his original attack patterns where you can get at him more easily.

This is the last boss fight of the main game, if you've made it this far he shouldn't present too much of a problem however.
As soon as the fight starts run up and get a few quick hits in on him, he'll then fly up and launch a projectile at you, either jump over this or attack it to send it flying away (it splits into other projectiles if it hits the wall/floor/ceiling so be sure to keep an eye on it and dodge these too).
He'll then fly down and land in the center of the room, sneak in a few hits here, he'll hit his staff on the floor sending you into the past and then disappear leaving some pink butterflies behind, Cloud Step on these until the pink lightning on the edges of the screen goes away.
He'll reappear in the center of the room, hit him a few times while he's here before he flies up and launches another projectile at you, dodge/deflect it again then hit him again until he disappears leaving more butterflies, again, cloud step on these.
Next he'll fly up and spawn clones of himself, throw a shuriken into them and hit the real one, the fakes will disappear and he'll return to the center of the room again, get a few quick hits in here too.
Here he starts playing the organ in the background and a large floating mask appears above him, this shoots lasers so use the walls, lanterns and hooks to make your way around the room dodging it (Hopefully getting in a couple of hits on the phantom as you do).
Once again he flies up and spawns more clones, again, use a shuriken to hit the real one. Again he disappears leaving pink butterflies, Cloud Step on them once again.
When the phantom re-appears get some more hits in before he flies up to launch a pink projectile at you, treat this the same as the other ones.
Again he goes to the organ and summons the mask which shoots lasers, treat it the same as before and this time you should defeat him.
Here's a video guide if you need it;
As you can see you don't need to be anywhere near perfect to beat this boss.

During the initial phase and the following phases when he shoots out a pink orb, just wait until it's close to you then jump over and move away from it to dodge it and the bolts of energy it shoots out. When it comes to the pink skulls/pigs be sure to avoid the edge of the screen portions that are 16-bit (the future) and stay within the 8-bit (past) sides; only these spots are safe from damage. when he splits into multiple forms move to about 1/4 of the room space ([not here] | [here] | [not here] | [here] | [not here]) then wait for him to line up and hit the right copy. Besides those points just time out his attack phases and then wail on him when he is in a stunned state.
