In the video where he starts talking about 'walking the table', you can see a little island to the right, with a bit of debris between that and the 'safe zone'. It's a much shorter distance across the sand, and easy enough to reach with that long bit of wood. Plus, there's a big metal sheet to walk across. I also brought a few more and had absolutely no problem leapfrogging those metal sheets. Got it first time.

I think its glitched, i've tried 4 times now without anyone of the enemies attacking me or the sand sound appearing and it still give me the achievement.

We all know the Orange Box is one of the single most incredible compendium of gaming genius I have waited to ‘stumble’ over a guide for this as for me it is a fuckin nightmare to pop this is an achievement I wanted to leave behind in the rear view mirror now I have no choice other than to scramble to my lost and find that special green box of the orange box and smash through that fuckin beach and get that sweet 20GS bounty 💥

If you use the video like x HeroBlade x said then you are quite safe, BUT sometimes it can happen that you step just slightly on the sand and no antlions will appear as an indicator but you won't get the achievement.

It is much easier to tell if you touched the sand if you are elevated (other indicators are shaking controller or shaking screen), therefore you should use two bed frames that you can jump on. Save after each jump and then take the frame from behind you and place it in front of you.

The two frames can be found here:

1. In the first barn after having used the long plank to cross sand for the first time (Video around 2:50). Shoot it as close to the last rock with a house on it (see 2) with the gravity gun.
2. Inside the last house on the last rock before entering the area with sand only (Video around 3:33).

There are actually three you can use, one's way down on the beach from one of the cliffs, but you can drag it up with the Gravity Gun. Makes it a bit quicker on the end stretch. (Thanks Hurball)

Yes, I chose the bed frames for the open stretch too. First line them up in the direction you want to go. Then stand on the one in front and grab the one in the rear with the zero-point energy field manipulator. This will create enough friction to propel both beds forward. Just keep grabbing it when it drops without bringing it over. Save in case you slide off the side and this will be the easiest part of the achievement. Enjoy!

That's an interesting way, surely adds a lot of fun.

The bed frames work far better than the planks in the video, great advice dude!

I don't understand! You have the best solution for this achievement yet the newest and simplest solution gets voted to the top!! What a backass community! (They obviously never tried using both beds as I did.)

Found this much easier using the bed frames. Got it first try with all three of them and then the plank to get up to the rocks at the end. I kept touching the sand without knowing before. Thanks!

You would have thought at least one of the guides would specify what chapter the achievement can be obtained on.

Save regularly! Use the Gravity Gun with planks of wood, palette’s etc to help you get from rock to rock, you should get the achievement before you drop down to fight the queen Antlion.

If you touch the sand slightly and no antlions appear reload as you will not get the achievement.

To add on to what you said about touching it slightly, if your screen shakes, or you feel vibration in your controller those are good indications that you touched the sand.

Very fun and challanging achivement. Once you get past the small little valley and you get to the more open area, go to the buildings and little shacks. They can provide you with ammo and other pieces of wood and debre which is a main priority for this. the easiest solution and the one i chose is to get two long pieces of wood and put one in front of you and then take the one behind you and put it in front of you and then repeat the process until you get to a small piece of land. This process takes a while and can be trouble some at some points so make sure to save a lot and try to take the flattest route possible.

This achievement takes a lot patience to get it without messing up. Be careful when sprinting jumping because when you land you might slide off the rocks.
Use the flat metal sheet, wood plank and crate pieces to get across the sand. making a makeshift bridge out of these 3 things will help you.Make sure you save at the start of the level so just in case the achievement didn't pop up you load your last save point and do it again. But if you mess up on one part you can up load the last auto save(the game makes 2 auto saves)

Our friends at achievement hunters has made a video on how to get this achievement

(Achievement Hunter Community member "Kite_Shugo" shows us how to get this achievement)

(before you give me a "thumbs down" on this or any other solution. Tell what I can do to fix it)

Can't fault the first solution for the route, I tried crossing the big sandy area at the end, using the bed frame, sheets of metal, crates, and all sorts with no success, but I found a neat little add on to the first video! Follow the video to the point where you cross a gap, using oblong wooden boxes to weigh down one end of a see saw type mechanism. Once you have crossed grab them if poss and fire them in the direction you are heading! Use the long plank as before to continue past the buildings, all the while firing the oblong boxes forward to the point where you cross the 50 foot expanse of sand. These boxes proved much easier than the beds, and if you position them carefully, can EASILY walk from one to the next, and cross this last big expanse...I did it first try, after a few attempts at the previous method. Because these boxes are much easier to get on, you dont need to jump, if they are quite close, this prevents those annoying moments where you overshoot and touch the sand. All credit to the previous solutions though, as the route is spot on....happy sand crossing folks!

The way I did it, no offense to the others, is the best way to get this done the first time around as long as you don't screw up before the big area of sand at the end. Get to that big area of sand the same way any video tutorial will show you, but once you near the big lot of sand, start looking for big metal doors where the see-saw is and after that area. I believe there are 2 by the see-saw, one or two by the boat, and one or two in the big sand area, there r five total. also, if you want, you can use little metal doors too so make it more impossible to touch the sand. When you arrive at that shack in the big sand area at the end with the bedframe and stuff in it thats by that generator to turn that tower thing on, instead of going forward like the video tutorial shows you when they use the big plank of wood and such, use your metal doors and go right to the little circular island that has 2-3 stone platforms in between to get there. then once your on top of that island, take your metal doors and drop them down below to the side where your facing the patch of land that will unlock you the achievement. you can jump down to the stone platform nearest you and start placing the doors one by one and make a path leading you all the to the ending land and then use one of the metal doors as a ramp to get up there. then just jump to the higher land before the big antillion and you get the achieve as long as you didnt touch the sand in the beginning. make sure you keep an ear out for rumbles because that will mean u barely touched the sand and you needa reload to a checkpoint that was before you touched the sand. doing this method will make it nearly impossible at the end to touch the sand, thus netting you the achievement. as soon as i figure out how i can make a video of this method, I will.

Sorta difficult. When you come to the beach where you have to cross the sand that is infested with Antlions, find anything of use and use the gravity gun to make your own little pathway across the sand. If you happen to mess up, just reload an autosave and start again. The achievement will unlock, if done right, as you are on the hill RIGHT before the little battle with the Antlion Guard.
