How to unlock the Not the Best Choice achievement in The Outer Worlds - Definitive Guide
The item brand is located just below the name of the item while in your inventory, the majority of starting weapons are Spacer's Choice however finding the clothing and headgear can be tricky at the start of the game. Head to the first town, Edgewater, then go to the General Store and purchase the Mining Helmet and Worker Outfit. Both are 50 bits, if you don't have four Spacer's Choice weapons you can also purchase them from him, but I had more than enough from killing enemies along the way. The Hibernation Suit that you start with is labeled as a Spacer's Choice but the achievement did not unlock for me until I took it off and wore the Worker Outfit. You can also save and reload after you get the achievement if you don't want to spend your bits on the clothing.
Edit: The Hibernation suit may work, try equipping it with the rest of gear first, then buy the Worker Outfit if it doesn't.

In this video guide I will show you how to simultaneously equip Spacer's Choice brand clothing, headgear, and 4 weapons. Now this can be done very early on if you pay attention to the brand under the name. Also if you check every vendor, especially the Spacer's Choice ones first. Check any person who sells gear also.
If you miss this you can easily get it on Monarch. There is a Spacer's Choice vendor right next to the ship where you first land on the planet. Buy all those weapons, then head down South on the map. There will be people who sell gear as well. The one girl will sell Spacer's Choice armor, buy that and will only need the headgear. Next go to the town called Fallbrook. The town is almost at the bottom of the map, Southeastern. There will be a building with two merchants inside. Talk to the man for the eye patch. Then go into your items and equip all the slots with Spacer's Choice for the achievement to pop.

- You need to equip a "Spacer's Choice" weapon in each of the 4 slots. These are very common and easy to find. Right under the weapons name will tell you what Manufacturer it came from.
- You also need to equip Armor and Headgear that's Spacer's Choice as well...
You can buy both of these in the Edgewater General Store for cheap, you could always SAVE before you purchase this, acquire the cheev, then re-load that save if you wanna save the bits

The achievement unlocks when you equip armor, helmet, and four weapons each made by Spacer's Choice. Press cn_back to open up the information screen and cn_RB or cn_LB tab to Inventory. Tab to armor by pressing cn_LT or cn_RT. You'll note when you highlight armor & helmets, you'll see the name of the armor in the upper left with the manufacturer's name directly below. Equip Spacer's choice armor & helmet. Tab to weapons by pressing cn_LT or cn_RT. Similar to armor, the name of the weapon and the manufacturer are shown in the upper left corner of the panel that appears when you highlight a weapon. Equip a Spacer's choice weapon in each of the four weapon slots. Back out of the info screen by pressing cn_B. The achievement will pop.
The achievement can be unlocked very early in the game. The player-character is equipped with Spacer's Choice armor, the Hibernation Suit. The first NPC encountered is Guard Pelham who hands over his pistol of Spacer's Choice manufacture. On your way to your ship you'll encounter a few marauders that you (or the soldiers near the ship) can kill. They are likely to drop Spacer's Choice weapons, armor, and helmets when you loot their corpses.
When you follow the road from your ship to the town of Edgewater and enter by the main (south) entrance, you'll find the General Store as the second building on your right. You can buy the Spacer's Choice items you need for the achievement. The Shopkeeper, Julius Moreau, sells a Telescoping Staff (120 bits), a Light Assault Rifle (140 bits), & a Revolver (160 bits) as his 3 cheapest Spacer's Choice Weapons. He sells the Spacer's Choice Mining Helmet for 50 bits.
Assuming you're wearing the Spacer's Choice Hibernation Suit and have Pelham's Spacer's Choice pistol but were unable to find any other Spacer's Choice items, the General Store will provide the remaining items. If you need cash (bits), there's a lot of stuff (bits and items) that you can loot or steal about town. You can sell items to Moreau before you purchase General Store merchandise.
Once you have the necessary items, equip them as described above. The achievement will pop. Since, as the achievement implies, the Spacer's Choice items are not very good. You may want to load up the auto-save that was created when you entered Edgewater and continue the game without wasting bits on frivolous purchases made only to unlock an achievement.

ou can get this achievement fairly quickly in Emerald Vale. Nearly every weapon you find at the beginning of the game will be Spacer's Choice, and Edgewater sells both pieces of clothing for only 50 bits each. Put both pieces of clothing on, then fill your weapon slots with Spacer's Choice brand weapons to unlock the achievement.
This is a pain in the bum really.
The four weapons are easy to loot from enemies or buy from several vendors. The clothes and helm, however, are an nightmare.
Thankfully I found a location with pre-deceased people that had clothing on them. The labs at Edgewater that require you to turn off the electric gates and fight an array of robotic enemies, have dead scientists all over the place. There was two there that had the loot required. Also found them inside.
Scylla's Abandoned mine also had uniforms lying about.
The loot system is random so early on Edgewaters vendors sell miners gear you can buy dirt cheap. They seem to disappear later on in the story though, especially after the deserters return to the town.
Areas to rule out looking are Groundbreaker and Monarch. I never seem to find any there. But randomly come across them on Terra-2 and Scylla alot.

Maybe this will work also: After completing Happiness is a Warm Spaceship on Groundbreaker it unlocks the vendor Dr. Mfuru at the Medical Bay. All of his armor and head gear is Spacer's Choice

All equipment is purchased for mere pennies, for example, from the guy with the head of the moon on the Pioneer.

You don't have to spend money. Got the achievement on the first planet. Just look at the loot manufacturer.

The moon-headed seller didn't have a helmet or armor, so he decided to make a save and take down a couple of Marines. The armor and helmet fell off the second one. As soon as I put it on, they gave me a trophy.
