How to unlock the Level 30 achievement in The Outer Worlds: Spacer's Choice Edition - Definitive Guide
Pretty straight forward, some advice I have for gaining XP fast is to stick with missions. Try to group objectives that are in the same cities or areas so you're not wasting time traveling back and forth. Try using dialog options that will grant XP, pick locks where ever you go, hack terminals, get the companion perk that grants more XP for companion kills, try and discover as many places you can. It took me about 12 hours of gameplay this playthrough to obtain.
The achievement is unlocked when you reach level 30 during a single playthrough. Technically, it is missable because it is easy to get to the point of no return well before level 30. In practice, it is not missable.
The game creates a system save file at the point of no return. From this system save file, it is possible to play the Peril on Gorgon and Murder on Eridanos quest lines. These are treasure troves of XP and it is not unusual to level up 12 times or more during their play especially if one fully explores the planets of Gorgon and Eridanos.
At any rate, if you are below level 30 when you reach the point of no return, expect to level up once or twice after landing on Tartarus. If, in the unusual event, you have completed the Peril on Gorgon and Murder on Eridanos quest lines, and are below level 28 when Tartarus becomes available as a destination, play through some side quests until you are about level 29 before going to Tartarus and reaching the point of no return.
It is also possible to grind by killing the 5 mega-creatures in the vicinity of Fallbrook or any enemies on Gorgon and Eridanos—they are all high value. Normally, though, quests are a much more lucrative source of XP than killing enemies.
For people who played through the original The Outer Worlds, the Spacer’s Choice Edition is very different. The level in the original base game was capped at 30. Three additional levels were provided in each of the two DLCs raising the max level to 36. In order to reach level 30 in the original game, players would ‘milk’ XP by taking every opportunity for a skill check, a lockpick, a hack, and discovering locations—vending machines, workbenches, and named places on the map—to help them level up.
The Spacer’s Choice edition has no such level cap. One need not ‘milk’ XP. Completing every task and side quest and engaging in combat when encountering enemies, one can exceed level 40 without undue effort and excessive grinding. The DLCs from the original game are incorporated into the Spacer’s Choice Edition as main story quest lines. If you play through these quest lines with the intent of unlocking all their achievements and without avoiding combat, you should hit level 30 and unlock this achievement well before you reach the point of no return.
