How to unlock the Well Dressed achievement in The Outer Worlds: Spacer's Choice Edition - Definitive Guide
The achievement is unlocked when you equip the Chimaera clothing and the A Nice Hat headgear at the same time. A Nice Hat is easy to find. The Chimaera armor is acquired as a reward following a fairly arduous side quest.
In anticipation of a side quest that comes later in the game, keep an eye open for three different armor (clothing) & helmet (headgear) combinations. Early in the game, you will come across Marauders. Ensure you have, at least, one Marauder clothing or armor and one Marauder headgear or helmet. The item’s description seen in the inventory screen will clearly state it is a Marauder piece of equipment.
The second combination is Spacer’s clothing and Spacer’s headgear. If you do not come across them as enemy drops or loot, you can buy them from Ike’s Armory in the Groundbreaker Promenade. Do NOT confuse Spacer’s equipment with Spacer’s Choice equipment. In spite of the similarity in name, the two are different. Spacer's Choice is a brand name. We are looking for the descriptive, "Spacer."
An example is Streetware, Basic made by Ports of Call. The description in your inventory screen will read, "Medium weight leather spacer's gear." A headgear example is Enclosed Padded Helm made by Aramid Ballistics. The description on your inventory screen will read, "Lightweight Spacer's helmet. Full coverage for moderate protection."
Finally, you will need an Iconoclast set. If you don’t come across the items as loot or enemy drops, you can purchase headgear and armor from the Iconoclast Quartermaster Vendor just inside the Amber Heights gate. The description in your inventory screen will clearly state they are iconoclast items.
A Nice Hat is available in the OSI Church just outside Stellar Bay on Monarch. Exit by the Stellar Bay north gate—from your ship, head straight around the Yacht Club. Sebastian is standing at a corner of the building. Looking ahead to your left, the gate is in front of you. Exit into the Monarch Wilderness. At the first sign you see, take a right following the sign’s arrow pointing towards Cascadia. The church will be a very short ways from the junction on your left. Enter and go all the way to the back. You'll find a skeleton wearing a top hat. Pick it up. This is A Nice Hat required as part of the outfit for the achievement.
When you get to Byzantium, go to Jolicoeur’s Haberdashery and speak to Celeste Jolicoeur. This is best done after you have started Parvati’s companion quest, Don’t Bite the Sun because you will have a quest marker directing you to Celeste. More importantly, you must complete the task Find Parvati Fancy Clothes before you complete Celeste’s quest Makes Space Suits, Won’t Travel. If you finish Celeste’s quest before you acquire Parvati’s clothes, you will botch Parrvati’s companion quest and miss the achievement for completing all companion quests.
If you are on the Halcyon Path where you tell Udom Bedford (the Halcyon ambassador on Groundbreaker) that you know Phineas's whereabouts, you will arrive in Byzantium before you land on Monarch. If this is the case, it is best to defer talking to Celeste until after you go to Monarch and acquire A Nice Hat and the Iconoclast clothing & headgear especially since you must return to Monarch to complete Celeste’s quest. You can wait until the story takes you to Monarch or you can force your way in by ignoring the warnings and land on Cascadia. From there, make your way on foot to Stellar Bay, Fallbrook, and/or Amber Heights. Once you have A Nice Hat and the iconoclast clothing & headgear set, you can fast travel to your ship and return to Byzantium.
I recommend completing the purchase of Parvati’s clothing before proceeding with Celeste’s quest. When you are ready, Celeste will ask you to model the three clothing and headgear sets—Marauder, Iconoclast, and Spacer. Do so. She will then ask for Mantiqueen Chitin, Raptidon Flank Hides, and Primal Leather. The first two are obtained on Monarch. Follow the quest marker—they are in different sectors. Go to Scylla for the Primal Leather. You might have a quest marker in Emerald Vale but I have not found the primals there to be a reliable source. You might have more luck, but the primals on Scylla should drop the leather readily.
When you return to Celeste with the materials she asked for, she’ll inform you that Halcyon Parcel Service (HPS) is experiencing delays delivering her trademark gold lapel—the garment’s final touch. Follow the quest marker to HPS where you get the run-around. The package is en route to the wrong destination. Follow the quest marker to the address only to learn the lapel has been returned to HPS. Go back to HPS. Go to the window to receive the delivery or pick the lock to sneak in behind the clerk and take the parcel from the counter.
When you return to Celeste, you find the shop in chaos. Your task is simple, though. Ignore the hubbub and take Celeste's Key (a quest item) from her. Use it to enter her office. Take the unique, named armor—Chimaera—off her desk. This completes the side quest Makes Space Suits, Won’t Travel. You don’t have to equip Chimaera now. When you do, along with A Nice Hat you picked up from the OSI Church on Monarch, the achievement will pop.
