For those who have not completed this as they are terrified of the learning curve, I highly suggest googling a program called "Fuego". It is basically an AI that will always play the best move, and then you can just input the XBox's moves, and it will tell you where to go. And it's free, so you can't beat the price.

I did this side by side and never lost a game. Maybe took 90 minutes to 2 hours.
This won't help with the puzzles, but those can be just trial and error and I blew threw them with minimal pain.

Can confirm "Fuego" program worked like a charm. Just DL it and you can set up boards with/without handicaps and breeze through the game.

I had posted about Goban, a Mac Go program. It's available here:

However, it does not seem to have the ability to set up the stones for an in-progress game. Also, the handicap stones are sometimes positioned "upside-down" compared to the Xbox, making those games a bit harder. The Windows app for Fuego has the ability to put stones in any starting position, so I've switched to using it instead of Goban.

Story mode starts out with your avatar being introduced to the game of Go by your personal Go master. After teaching you some basics, he sets you on the Path of Go where you will face off against other masters and look for a long lost relative (it's a slight spoiler, so I'll say relative rather than the actual relation).
The other masters, and your relative will have you solve a couple Go problems to teach you how to handle certain situations, and beat them in games, sometimes as black, sometimes as white, and sometimes with a handicap. Early on they even let you undo your last move, but that ends quickly.
All in all you will play 18 matches of Go (all on 9x9 boards) and solve 8 puzzles (plus the tutorial). The difficulty gets harder as you go, but with patience (and if you have to, a computer program to plug the moves into) the masters can be beaten.
Also to note, there are 5 different areas on the Path of Go, and with each comes a different table/stone set and background for you to use in local or online play.

Not a solution. But a little warning.
I had a problem in a story mode, when You first meet You twin.
If You have a award costume for avatar then there is a possibility that game stops responding and goes blank. Changing the avatar costume to normal resolves the issue.
