How to unlock the Hard Pass achievement in The Quarry - Definitive Guide

Finally managed to grab this achievement after scouring the web for workarounds. You need to grab at least one tarot card in each chapter so that you get an option to decline Eliza's (Fortune Teller lady) help at the end of the chapter. As this achievement is glitched, here's how I got the achievement to pop.

When you encounter Eliza at the end of the chapters, choose 'Move on' and then immediately close the game. Boot the game back up and continue from where you left off. This will count the progress from the 'move on' action. Repeat this for each chapter. My achievement popped as I was going into Chapter 6.

Edit following a comment: you'll need to go this route on a new save for it to pop, so starting up a chapter select on chapter 5 won't do.

Edit by a holy chainsaw; make sure you have your 2K account linked if this guide doesn't work as intended

Note that since this is a workaround, I can't guarantee it'll work for everyone, so if anyone else tries it, please leave a comment to confirm!

When I close the game and open it again, when I select to continue it returns to the scene after I chose "move on". I can't choose again. That's right? Achievement not unlocked here.
That's right, I didn't get the option to choose again, I just made sure to hop out of the game as soon as I'd picked the 'move on' option. Sorry to hear it didn't work for you and a holy chainsaw. I have heard that it's unlocked in chapter 8 for some on PS although I can't confirm or deny that, so if you're not tired of trying workarounds, that might be something to try!

Pause and go back to the game main menu also works, I got the achievement in Chapter 6 without closing the game.
Nice! Thanks for the updated info!

You are awesome! Did what you said and got a tarot card each chapter and when I said "Move on" I left for the dashboard and it popped at the same time yours did!

Thank you so much!

When you say the same time, do you mean it was also going into Chapter 6? Kinda wanna just try replaying Chapter 5 and seeing if that's the one that actually triggers the achievement rather than replaying all the chapters before it.

EDIT: Can confirm just starting from Chapter 5 won't get the achievement. Starting a new game now and will see if this unlocks for me at Chapter 6 as well that way.

Sorry, Alex Sobecki! I'll update for clarity, but I played through the game on a new save up until the Chapter 5 Eliza scene to get the achievement to pop!

Wonderful to see the confirmations re: the workaround working! Happy hunting to the rest :)

Alright, I can confirm this works. Started a new game from the prologue and grabbed at least 1 tarot card per Chapter, quit out after "Move On", and it popped right after I said "Move On" at the end of Chapter 5. Didn't even need to quit out and load back into the Chapter 6 beginning.

Confirmed, playing digital version 1.0.0.4 on a Series X. I got it after dashboarding after selecting "Move On" at the end of Chapter 5. It popped on the dashboard; I didn't even need to load up the game again. Thanks Jovial!

I just popped the achievement on the xbox one version simply by choosing "move on" on chapter 7 and not even having to quit.

However, I didn't have my 2k account linked until chapter 7 itself, after having followed this method. Looks like it works properly after Chapter 6 if you follow the method.

Can confirm this worked for me without even starting a new save. Started from chapter select at chapter 3 to start a play through to collect all tarot cards - started quitting out after ‘move on” on chapter 5 (that’s when I discovered the workaround) it unlocked at the end of chapter 8/beginning on chapter 9

Confirmed Chapter Select can work. Was going for Laura and Max Reunited on an "everyone but them died" game and reloaded Chapter Eight. I'd found a card in each chapter and "Moved on" at each tarot reading. Quit out after "Moving on" at end Chapter Eight, reloaded, played on and cheevo popped when I picked "Move on" at end Chapter Nine.

It worked now! And it worked by loading a game in chapter 8 in a run that I had picked up all the cards, so I selected chapter 8 and picked them up again, and exited to the menu after "move on" after chapter 8 and 9.

After 9, the achievement unlocked. Apparently what's bugged is the "move on" counter. Thanks.

After the patch, is the achievement expected to pop on it's own if we always selected "Move On?" Or do we need to replay a chapter to get to perform a "Move On" option again?

By pheonix580 on 09 Jul 2022 01:08
The patch doesn't seem to have fixed this issue (for me atleast). No auto-pop and nothing even replaying a few chapters to the end to see if that forced it. Will have to do this 'quit out method' of yours to try and get it to pop when I can find motivation to replay this for the n'th time.

UPDATE: Did the solution method last night and the achievement popped after Chapter 5. So the patch didn't work for me, but this method did!

Can confirm that your guide works 100% and the massive update from supermassive does not effect this guide.(also doesn’t actually fix this glitched achievement like it claimed to.) instead just gave us a useless “multiplayer” mode no one will ever use. Cheers for this guide.

Followed this guide somewhat (with a 2K account linked) while going for the Blood Pact trophy and can confirm this worked.

I think the trigger is completing 5 'Move On' selections in a row. I had started a new game and was rushing through and missed a tarot card in Chapter 2. I kept playing and made sure to grab at least one card in each following chapter, and the achievement popped as soon as I hit 'Move On' right before Chapter 8.

Hope this helps someone! This game is certainly annoying to replay if you make a mistake.

You need to find at least one tarot card every chapter still but this is working as expected now as of 11/8/22. I chose move on every chapter and this unlocked after ch 9 when the heirophant flashback started. No 2k account linked either

Will chapter select work so long as you did this for all prior chapters? I decided to collect clues instead of Tarot on this run, so I'd like to just go back to chapter 2. I found Tarot and rejected help in the prologue and chapter 1.

Went through the game again, 2k account not linked, didn't do the workaround, achievement did NOT unlock.

So to be safe to be sure to be sure, do the workaround trick :)

Just got it (3 July) using the workaround. It looks like the only thing affecting this is the "move on" counter (as suggested by Nilla Aurora above), because:

1. I was on my 'kill everyone' playthrough and started from Chapter 4.
2. I actually got card readings from Eliza after each previous chapter on that savegame (realized it only during Chapter 8, but decided to give it a try anyway).
3. I don't have a 2K account at all.

Popped after Chapter 9, just as I was about to quit the game.

Working for me as of July 2023. I linked my 2K account and quit the game every time I selected Move On. I accidentally missed the tarot card in Chapter 2 but it still popped for me after selecting Move On in Chapter 6.

Thankfully had no problems with this. Just to be safe, go ahead and get every Tarot card that you can on a fresh playthrough. You will not be able to get all of the clues in this playthrough, but you can stack this with the evidence. I closed the game right after I rejected Eliza's help every time, and I also got the achievement around Chapter 5/6.

You have to pick up at least 1 Tarot card in each chapter then choose the Left option when the Fortune Teller asks if you want help. This means that in Chapter 2 you will miss out on some clues as you will have to choose the Rocky Road path to get the only Tarot card in the chapter.

For me, I picked up all up 1 of the Tarot cards through Chapter 8 and got the achievement at the end of Chapter 8. Not sure if this matters, but I did power off my PS after telling the hag 'No' in two of the chapters.

The way this trophy normally works is that you choose "Move On" every time you talk to Eliza, but a new work around found that the likely reason it's not popping is that you need to select Move On 11 times...when that's not possible through normal progression.

Thanks to matti11120 at PSNP, he's found a workaround to achieve it if you'd rather not wait for the patch.

  • Start a New Game playthrough from the Title Screen.
  • Pick up one Tarot card in each Chapter. At the end of the Chapter when talking to Eliza, always choose “MOVE ON” > THEN CLOSE THE GAME IMMEDIATELY AFTER THIS
  • Reboot game > press “Continue” > if done correctly you should see Eliza again where the game saved your choice.
  • Do this for Prologue / Chapter 1 / Chapter 2 / Chapter 3 / Chapter 4 / Chapter 5
  • Doing this counts you choosing "MOVE ON" Twice per chapter instead of once, for a total of 11 times.
As of the latest patch (1.03), this formerly glitched trophy works as intended. You simply need to collect at least one Tarot card per chapter, and when talking with Eliza at the end of each chapter, make sure to select "Move On" each time. This should pop by the end of Chapter 9.

I picked up at least one tarot card in every chapter - but I missed the one in chapter 2 when you choose to follow rocky road with Nick and Abi.
I chose 'move on' after each cut scene with Eliza, and had all characters but Kaitlyn and Ryan infected (Emma was infected twice).
The achievement popped at the end of chapter 8.

I had my 2k account linked and started the game on a new save.
I was actually collecting all evidence and clues this run through; so had all the possible collectables up to the end of chapter 8, but the Hanged Man tarot card from chapter 2 - had to miss it to collect the other collectables down shady glade.

Hi all. I had this pop on July 14, 2022. All I did was choose "MOVE ON" at the end of each chapter, and I had collected all Tarot cards. At the end of Chapter 9, it popped immediately after the cutaway to the HIEROPHANT flashback.

Not sure if it's related, but I had everyone infected, had killed all of the Hackett's possible up to this point (except for Travis), and all the heroes were alive.

Since this achievement is bugged you need to do the following:
Delete your save file from console and cloud.
Start a new game and collect at least one tarot card in each chapter. When you meet Eliza at the end of the chapters always choose "Move on".
The achievement popped at the end of chapter 8 (which makes sense since you can collect the hierophant in chapter 9 which will automatically trigger Elizas "vision").
No workaround necessary.

When the fortune teller asks if you want her help, say no. Also, don't pick up the Hierophant card because that starts a story sequence with her that counts as help.

This trophy can be obtained on the disk version with patch 1.0 and you need to disconnect from the Internet. On version 1.2 the trophy does not drop.
To get the trophy, you need to collect all the Toro cards except the Innomancer in Chapter 9 when you play as Abby.
The trophy drops at the end of the ninth chapter from Alice.
We are waiting for the patch

Version 1.05 there is no need to skip the Hierophant card. If you collected all the cards before and always refused help, then the trophy will drop at the end of Chapter 9 even with the Hierophant

This method works 100%! I played through the digital version of the game with update 1.02, collected all the cards that were from chapters 1-5, the trophy falls immediately after refusing to look at the cards after the fifth chapter.

Now you can collect all the cards. The vision after chapter 9 will not be considered as help, but as a simple cut scene.

It doesn’t matter how many cards you collect, in what chapter. Doesn't make sense. The main thing is to refuse 10 times in a row. I played, agreed for the first 2 chapters, then refused. I did it with access to the main menu, so that it recorded 2 failures at a time. and voila. after chapter 7 the trophy dropped!

I don’t know why they didn’t write about the current situation with this trophy. Digital, version 1.04.

Collect tarot throughout the game, starting from the prologue (EXCEPT FOR THE HIEROPHANT IN CHAPTER 8!), and always refuse predictions. I got the trophy at the end of Chapter 9.

The method of going to the menu immediately after refusing Louise works!

In this case, it is not necessary to start the game again , you can combine it with a partial passage through the selection of chapters.

I started replaying from the second chapter for the Blood Pact trophy, and each time I refused Louise’s help, went to the menu and the trophy dropped at the end of chapter 8.

So far we have found the only working option before the release of the patch from the developers, how to get this trophy on versions 1.0-1.2 (the digital version also works):
Start the game from the beginning and collect at least 1 card in each chapter. After the end of the chapter, we refuse the old woman’s help, and immediately after changing the perspective/starting a new dialogue with the old woman, we go to the menu (the game is saved at this moment). Next, click continue (the scene begins immediately after our refusal) and when we move to a new chapter, the game is saved again, so the game saves our refusal twice. We also repeat until chapter 6. At the end of Chapter 5, if you refuse again, the trophy will drop. I did this myself and finally got platinum.
