There are some parts you may miss, however most are required to progress the story. I'd recommend using the walkthrough to tick off all the times you'll earn points. Using hints will burn off some points which will mean you miss out on this and the master achievements.

Begin chapter - 1000 points
Search the purse - 2000 points
Open the toolbox - 2500 points
Use graphite powder - 1500 points
Bonus pictures - 1000 points
Bonus pictures - 2000 points
Find Matt - 500 points
Bonus music - 2000 points
Board the ship - 1000 points
Open the door - 1500 points
Side deck - 500 points
Feed the constable - 1000 points
Complete the episode - 3000 points
