After the explosion, you need craft a torch to see while uncoupling the train cars. You need to collect and assemble a few items for the torch.
• Pick up the candy bowl from the ground in front of the bar by the stools. It will be placed on the counter.
• Examime the alcohol behind the bar next to the window and take the liquor. It will be placed on the counter.
• Speak with Dr. Gebhardt to get some matches. (Light 5 of these to unlock the "Firebug" Achievement)
• In the dining car by the entrance, examine the fallen chair and fire extinguisher. Use the fire extinguisher to break off the leg of the chair.
• Examine the curtains on the right side of the dining car and then collect them.
• Head to the area just outside the train cars where the explosion happened, and go down the ladder to examine the coupling link. Attempt to light a match.
• Use the curtain to clean the coupling link making it an oily rag.
• Return to the bar.
• Pour the alcohol in the bowl, then light a match and interact with the bowl to set it ablaze.
• Use the oil rag on the wooden chair leg to combine them to make a torch. Then combine that with the alcohol bottle.
• Light the alcohol soaked torch using the bowl of burning alcohol.

3rd attempt at this. already deleted and started chapter again. 3hrs later and I cannot light the bowl or the god dam torch. WTF is wrong with this game. Broken as shit, hate crappy broken shitty games like this....
Finally got it to light the bowl. Had to stand on other side of bar to get it to interact with it. highly frustrating game so far
