How to unlock the True Wealth achievement in The Sims 3 - Definitive Guide

One of the best ways, in my experience, to rack up tons of happiness points is to be a writer. There are tons of wishes that provide between 1,000 and 5,000 points for writing books. In addition, those royalty payments really, really add up big, and that money can help you with lots of other achievements.

Combined with that, if you pick the "neurotic", "neat", and "loner" traits, you'll end up getting wishes like "make the bed" or "stay at home for a while" which add up really quickly.

Yes, spend away. You don't have to hoard them.

how do you find out how many happiness points you have earned for each sim, i can't find it any where. i'm presuming happiness points are the numbers in brackets next to promised wishes? not challenge points for unlocking new items/karma powers??? cos if happiness points are the measly few hundred i've spent to unlock stuff this is impossible!!

Yes Maiden of Haste, they are the numbers in the brackets next to the wishes. As for knowing how many you have the way i am working it out is by adding the values all the lifetime rewards i have already purchased together and then adding the points balance i have yet to spend. Dont know if there is another way.

Just thought you should add that buying the Moodlet Manager will make this soooo much easier. You have to spend 450 challenge points to unlock it I think. Then it cost $3000 in the Catalog. When you have this you never have to eat, sleep, bathe, etc. You just wait until you have the Red moodlets for hunger or tired, then use the Moodlet Manager and boom, you are back to normal.

As Moe Marston said above, if you combine it with the moodlet manager you can work towards writing the books and nothing else. if the moodlet manager backfires and worsens your needs, all you have to di is use it again straight after and it will fix it again.

Is there anyway to check how many points you have earned when you've spent some especially on mid-life crisis trait changer?

Another note for this: the best genre to specialize in should you go the writer route is the Children's genre. The royalties are fairly decent (starting off at around $300 per book going up to $600-800 per as you get done skill milestones and get the Acclaimed Author reward) and at 105 pages, you can crank out books very quickly, allowing you to work towards the two main goals (# of books and royalties per week) without having to compromise between the two.

There's also a few of the writer's wishes that'll net you around 15,000 points, like Write 25 Best-Sellers.

i agree, and also my character wants to buy a book shelf all the time, easy points and my in game boyfriend always wants buy a chess table, very easy too just buy, go to live mode, back to buy mode and sell. Lose a bit of cash but grants easy wishes!

There are a few great traits your SIM should have when going in for this challenge and the other achievement 'True Wealth'- such as: Loner, book worm, neurotic, evil.

Then you get your SIM to attend writing and art classes to help you out. Make sure your home has a PC and Easel at home to use.

I had had a wife/husband team going, the Husband could go out and earn the money while the wife could go about learning writing/art as quick as possible.

When you half the karma points spend them on 'Stroke of Genius' so your Sim can learn the skill quicker.

Writing/Art give you lots of wishes and some of the become longer as in write 60 novels. Might take ages but you'll get 6k lifetime points.

Having the neurotic trait makes your Sim want to be clean- You may get wishes of Brush your teeth 3 times, make your bed, wash the dishes. These give smaller life time rewards but they do tend to pop up a lot.

Being evil allows you to donate money to charities that you'll Sim will wish to do. Some can be as little as 100S or as big as 10,000S- depending on which the lifetime points can reward you with lots of points for bigger donations or smaller amounts for smaller donations.

Now the biggest problem is finding out how many points you've got..right? Took me a while to work it out but this is how..

1) Hit the X button
2)Tab over to Sim Info and press right on d-pad and click A
3) Here it brings up the area where you can spend all your Lifetime Reward points.
4) Add up all the ones you've currently spent. You can tell because you'll have a little green tick on the ones you've bought.
5) Adding up how many you've spent will give you a very nice guide as to how many your Sim has currently earnt. Plus add in the points next to 'Available Points'.

The only thing to note is Mid-Life Crisis can be used more than once..So remember if you use it because you won't see a tick next to it.

And very imporantly turn off your Sims life span like Amifur suggested!

I returned to this game after two years had past and started working on challenges and wishes, completely oblivious to the fact that the nearly 200k points I had amassed could be spent on rewards/upgrades. This solution was BY FAR the most helpful to me, as I had completely forgotten about that, which helps tremendously. Cheers.

Ok, The way I achieved this one was; I made my sim evil, took the job at the warehouse (north west of the map)
And just worked there until I got Career level 10. Bought tons of stuff with the wish points I achieved before getting to this point.

After a while the game should be easier, when you buy the "Bladder of steel" from the Wish store, And the never shower ones etc.

Then just work up on getting your skills up, Writing and Painting are the best to make money and get wish points on.

You should get a few 1k-10k from work too. If your guy has the "Evil" trait you can donate money to charity every day and get tons of wish points for it.

Just rinse and repeat after everyday of work, and eventually you will get the achievement. I got it by Writing books and painting Masterpieces, around Week 15 Day 3.

Just don't give up and keep trying ;)

i've 100% the game. and if your prepared to go the evil career for the majority of your game, i'd recommend this. i went with police/science and learned to paint and write. money rolled in pretty quick.

You earn lifetime happiness points by completing wishes for your sims. Tougher wishes will give you more lifetime happiness than easier ones and lifetime wishes will give you the most happiness out of all of them. You can check how much lifetime happiness points you get from a certain wish, you can check the main wish menu by pushing and going over to the wish tab. You can check how many lifetime points you've earned by pushing and going to the sim info tab. From there push and you will find the lifetime rewards tab and it will tell you how many lifetime happiness points you've earned and how you can spend the points. You can spend the points and still earn this trophy, the game remembers how many total points you have whether you spend them or not. Try and make sure to complete your sims' lifetime wish and do things that they enjoy to get this trophy easily. Once you earn your 250,000th lifetime happiness point you'll unlock the trophy.

This has to be done on one Sim and it is cumulative, meaning you can spend Happiness points and it won't effect this achievement. If you do spend Happiness points on lifetime rewards all you have to do is look what you spent the points on and then add the cost of that to your current lifetime happiness score to find out your total. To see your lifetime happiness points and lifetime rewards, press and then go along to Sim info, press and you can then buy lifetime rewards and see your life time happiness score. You gain lifetime happiness points by completing wishes. It's best to have two wishes that take ages to complete and have two other wishes that are quick to complete. Longer wishes give you much more happiness than shorter wishes. Your Sim's Lifetime wish gives you a massive lifetime happiness score so try and fulfill it. You should unlock this while you are going for all the other achievements.
