How to unlock the Beyond Repairs achievement in The Sims 4 - Definitive Guide
To start, either wait for something to break, buy the woodworking craft table or buy the handiness skill books from a bookshelf. By level 2, you will be able to make simple upgrades and by level 9 you will be able to upgrade everything that can be upgraded. At level 10, you will be able to mentor other sims in the skill. The achievement will pop after your sim reaches level 10.
The easiest way I got my sim up to level 10 was to buy the woodworking craft bench and get my sim up to about level 4 of handiness. Then I bought about 4000 simoleons worth of the upgrade parts (4000 in total between all four of the different parts.) and I started upgrading everything I could. After upgrading a shower, toilet, two sinks, refrigerator, coffee maker, tv, radio, and computer my sim reached level 10 after about 2 hours (real world) of playing.

Full video guide:
The Handiness Skill is required to upgrade household items and build objects at the Woodworking Table. It is also required for the Criminal Career (Boss Branch). To level the skill up, you can repair broken objects, upgrade objects (Plumbing Objects, Electronics, and Kitchen Appliances), build items at the Woodworking Table, or read books on Handiness. Out of all of these, upgrading items and building things at the Woodworking Table are the quickest (though note it’s still not incredibly fast).
Your skill will increase faster if you have the “Focused” Moodlet active. It’s recommended that you paint a “Focused Painting” and hang it by the Woodworking Table. To create one, you will need a Chess Table and an Easel. “Play Chess” at the Chess Table to gain the Focused Moodlet. Once it’s active, you will have the option to “Paint a Mathematical Diagram”. Once it’s complete, open your Sim’s inventory, hover over the painting, and press to pick it up. Place it on the wall near the Woodworking Table.
When you click on the painting, you will have the option to “Turn on Emotional Aura”. This Aura will give you a permanent Focus Moodlet so long as you are close by. Make sure whenever you’re at the Table, the aura is turned on.
While Focused, get to building things at the Woodworking Table and once you reach Level 10 (Max Level), the trophy will unlock.
If you are completing Aspirations for aspiration points, you want to work on Knowledge - Nerd Brain one while leveling up this skill.
