How to unlock the Code Monk achievement in The Sims 4 - Definitive Guide

There are 10 levels in the programming skill. The programming skill will allow your sim to make virues, games, apps, game mods, take temporary tech jobs, hack into banking systems and to hack work/school experience.

To get started with the programming skill, buy a computer or purchase the programming books from a bookshelf.

The easiest way to get this skill maxed is to join the Tech Guru career and work on both the skill and maxing out the job. It took me about 2 hours (real world) to get a sim maxed out but he was also working on the gaming skill at the same time.

if just looking for the achievement itself, the sims 4 community has families you can download from the gallery that already have maxed out programming skill (or just about to reach it), so that is the quickest option available

Well, in addition to what was provided by the other guide (using books), you can also cheat your way into grinding this skill.

So, to do that, you need to do the following :
Step 1 : Press cn_LTcn_LBcn_RBcn_RT simultaneously, it should open a command box on the top left corner of your screen, press cn_A
Step 2 : Type the following into your command box Traits.equip_trait SteelBladder and then press Start to gain the trait SteelBladder.
Step 3 : Now repeat step 2 but instead of SteelBladder, enter the following traits :
Needs traits : NeverWeary (Energy need never decrease), ForeverFresh (Hygiene need never decrease), ForeverFull(Hunger need never decrease), NeedsNoOne (Social need never decrease). The only need that will keep going down, depending on the skill you're mastering is the "Fun" one.
Useful traits : Savant (Helps learn skills faster), MorningSim (Helps learn skills faster in the morning)/NightOwl (Helps learn skills faster during the night), sadly only one of those two can be picked.
{I believe I have listed all the traits I used to master my skills but if I forgot some, I will add them later.}

Once you are done adding all required traits, you can click on a computer and select "Practice programming" and then speed the game on the fastest speed and let your Sim level up its Programming skill. Thanks to the traits, unless you have a job, you can go from 0 to 10 in one go.
Yes, its cheap, but since it doesn't disable your achievement, why not?

Hope it is useful! Please do leave your comments if you have anything to add.

Sim Traits you Want: Nerd, Lone Wolf
Job You Want: Tech Guru

Items Needed: Desk, VERY Comfy chair, 1 Unbreakable computer or 2 great computers

Programming is one of those that will come in time. It is a decently slow one to upgrade. If you want your Sim to sit there and just grind have them Practice, making apps and such will get too easy for them later causing more work on your part.

Tips I'd suggest
-Any perks that lower needs (Steel Bladder) for instance
-Buy 3 Coding Books from the shelf and have your sim read those as you go for maximum efficiency
-Having a second sim that cooks and cleans will lower the time your Sim needs to be bothered
-Lone Wolf Trait will lower the need to be social
-Enable emotional auras on FOCUSED items and stack it around the desk

The Programming skill is required for Tech Guru Career (both Branches). It allows you to Hack as well as build Plug-ins, Viruses, Phone Apps, and Video Games. You can do any of these things to level it up (A computer is required), but simply “Practice Programming” will do the trick.

Your skill with increase faster if you have the “Focused” Moodlet active. It’s recommended that you paint a “Focused Painting” and hang it by the Computer. To create one, you will need a Chess Table and an Easel. “Play Chess” at the Chess Table to gain the Focused Moodlet. Once it’s active, you will have the option to “Paint a Mathematical Diagram”. Once it’s complete, open your Sim’s inventory, hover over the painting, and press to pick it up. Place it on the wall near the Computer.

When you click on the painting, you will have the option to “Turn on Emotional Aura”. This Aura will give you a permanent Focus Moodlet so long as you are close by. Make sure whenever you’re at the Computer, the aura is turned on.

While Focused, Practice Programming at the Computer and when you reach Level 10 (Max Level), the trophy will unlock.

If you are completing Aspirations for aspiration points, you want to work on Knowledge - Computer Whiz one while leveling up this skill.

Almost any skill is twice as easy to upgrade if you add character traits to your house in construction mode, thanks to which Sims upgrade skills at breakneck speed.

I recommend downloading first, because... it can be used to hack productivity at work (even on weekends), which will boost any career very quickly.
