How to unlock the Box Office Smash achievement in The Surge 2 - Definitive Guide

After you've completed Proto's sidequest, head back into the movie-theater (you may need to rest at medmay first). Find Proto sitting in the car on the ramp watching a movie, talk to him and offer to teach him some moves.

He'll start honking the car horn, attracting waves of enemies.

Fight the hell out of the 25 waves.

This will be tough.

I suggest usuing an energy based build, use implants that will give you buffs for filling in batteries and for executing enemies. There will be a lot of hits and a lot of executions. (Blocking seems kind of pointless here)

In the middle of the fight, he'll ask you if you need a break. Talk to him and tell him you want to continue!

I died on the 25th wave and still got the achievement. It might be possible to kite around the enemies after wave 10 until the screen gets to 25 you just have to watch out for those annoying cannon shooting enemies. Try to put a car between you and them and once they shoot run straight for them to kill them quick before they can reload.

That is what I did , I will add some tips to that guide: Half ANGEL Gear for the energy gains ,half MG Cerberus Gear for the Damage buff when 3+ and 5+ batteries are filled. I used the Codename Lohengrin , Codename Valkyries , and occasionally the Archangel V2.0 . Lots of Basic Drone shots to weaken a weak part for easy dismemberment. Also there are Gun enemies that spawn that at least on NG++ with 1000 health will 2 shot you , the shots are hard to dodge, these should be your first priority to take down when they spawn. Stock Up on Turret Drones which can be gotten from SPARK Engineers in Port Nixon

Here's another tip: on the bottom right side of the movie screen you can see how many waves you survived. A staff worked best for me. I used the Helix Of The Delver (Mk XIX), which also inflicts nano damage. It was quite a stressful battle on NG+. If there are too many enemies at close range, retreat, take some distance. If there are cannonneers, dispose of them immediately and ignore the rest for that moment. If a Corsair Pirate enters, leave him be and kill the smaller enemies first.

As it’s not clear elsewhere - you must beat CAIN/finish the DLC before you can do this.

You must not beat CAIN or finish the DLC to do this... you just need to unlock the last fight... once you activate the shortcut from the last boss fight to the first street you will receive the message from Proto... you need to get to the last boss but you don't need to fight him or kill him... you can take this achievement as an opportunity to grind some levels before the last fight.

I just got the achievement today, and I think it's worth pointing out that 25 waves is not the entirety of the challenge. You merely need to complete Wave 25 (after which Proto asks if you want a break) for the achievement to pop.

And honestly it wasn't that difficult for me. I used the Dark Prophecy set with the Metamorphing Talons, and set up my implants to boost elemental damage. I also focused on energy gain and healing via filling batteries or excess energy. I was afraid it would be a struggle, but it was very do-able.

Got to 25 twice, enemies stop showing up, music keeps playing, door out still blocked. Quitting out puts me before I started the arena challenge. Ugh 🙄

I used a completely different strategy, i dropped executions completely, and the health from execute implant too. I used the DLC armour that grants health on kill, i also used the implant, if batterys are at full, further energy is converted to health, this way i leached health. Honestly it was easy, other implants where drone/stamina/extra robot dmg.

I just finished this today, and from what I noticed:
1) There is only ever 5 enemies at a time.
2) Prioritize. Kill the guys with guns first. Use your drone and aim for their weak spots to kill them really fast.
3) If you see a sheild guy and may an acid spitting crab leave them. Kill the other guys giving you trouble, which will be replaced by other enemies.
4) You don't have to kill them all, the waves continue as you kill 2 each times.
5) You can see how many waves left when you look at the playing movie screen. (Best time to do this was during an execution.
6) Play ring around the rosey with the stage.

First, complete Proto's side-quest (see Juiced Up (15G)) and then return to the drive-in to find him sitting in the car on the ramp (the same one you shot through the screen earlier - he's taped the screen back up). Talk to him to initiate a horde mode by offering to show your combat skills, and refuse to take a break when he offers it so that you can complete all 25 waves. The achievement will unlock the second time he offers a break (feel free to stop here or keep going if you want to really test yourself).

This isn't a traditional horde with actual "waves" and enemies will continually spawn as you defeat other enemies. You want to always be aware of what is going on behind you, as you can easily get snuck up on or have a rocket enemy take over half your life if you're not aware that they've joined the fight. Every time you finish a combo or dodge away from someone, take stock of your surroundings. You'll fight around 30 enemies before he offers you a break and at least another 20 after. It takes a while and can be a pain if you die. However, you'll end up with nearly 5mil scrap by the end which is nice.

1. Complete the Proto quest
2. He will appear in the cinema, come up and say “Show tricks”
3. Beat the mobs until the achievement pops up (I got it during the second break)

Important! First you need to throw the robot octopus into the pool, go down there and open a shortcut to it - only after that Proto will repair the cinema and appear there in the car.
