How to unlock the Guard Dog achievement in The Surge - Definitive Guide
So
- no white tanks destroyed: face the Black Cerberus and after you whittle away a quarter of his health, he'll run away to heal a bit and you'll have to face the PAX. Each time you whittle a new quarter of his health.
- one white tank destroyed: face the Black Cerberus and after you whittle away a quarter of his health, he'll run away to heal a bit BUT YOU WILL NOT HAVE TO FIGHT THE PAX AGAIN.
- two white tanks destroyed: the Black Cerberus will not get any breaks from the fight (and no healing) and you will not see the PAX again this fight.
In the worst case you need a little bit of backtracking from production B
Technically by this you did Hardcore Kill of this boss and you get weapon version 2.0
In the abandoned facility you‘ll face a new enemy while confronting the Smelter Bot again; one with the Engelhart gear. Dispatch the Smelter Bot first and stay out of his sight, he’s sitting in the upper right corner of that area.
Make sure you have enough health boosts while confronting him (he‘s quite tough) and in the end try to severe his right arm (left from player’s view), this gives a new weapon and Black Cerberus’ arm gear. You may repeat this a few times to get enough MK VI force regulators (12) and loads of tech scrap to construct each arm. Finally I constructed the 2nd in Central Production B, after farming arm gear from the Liquidator guys.
I see you must complete Repeat Customer. One tip if you picked up a certain weapon; Jo will be angry about this, but don't give her the weapon, if the dialogue options mention to give 15.000 tech scrap to rebuild it again, choose this option. I may void the change of unlocking the achievement if you give the weapon (that's no 3 times scrap given). Good luck!
You will be able to obtain all of Black Cerberus' gear and weapon on your first playthrough if you defeat him after doing certain things. You will only be able to get the pieces in the video during new game plus.
You can obtain pieces of the Black Cerberus from certain enemies during NG+. These enemies will not have a full set of Black Cerberus gear on; they will only have a piece or two of the armor on them. You will have to locate which piece of the body has the gear on it and attack that section of the body and at the end cut it off. The pieces that I obtained in the video will not necessarily be the pieces that they will have on them when you confront them. Each playthrough they will have different pieces of armor on them. You will need to collect the Head, Body, Arm, Leg, and weapon in order to earn the trophy.
You can also obtain these pieces during one fight with the fourth boss, Black Cerberus. During this fight you will need to have the robot that comes out to destroy the two white silo looking things in the arena. 1 of the silos is where you first come down and enter the fight and the other one is near the window where the Black Cerberus retreats to when he is damaged. Have the robot shoot missiles and destroy these silos then defeat the Black Cerberus in order to obtain the full gear set.
Video Guide
Missable!
Getting Black Cerberus' gear can be a pain. If you merely fight and defeat him, you'll only get one piece of his gear, which would mean five playthroughs for the whole set.
Instead, when he retreats, and a P.A.X. unit enters, you need it to destroy the two large, white containers on opposite ends of the arena. Attack P.A.X.'s legs until he starts firing rockets, then position yourself in front of one container. Once P.A.X. fires at you, dodge the rocket with a well-timed jump, so that the it hits the container instead. Repeat the maneuver for the other container. Once both are destroyed, engage and terminate the P.A.X. With both containers gone, BC won't be able to summon any more P.A.X.es. Better yet, when you kill him, he should drop the weapon and a schematic for each gear part.
Emphasis on should, as sometimes he drops a full set and sometimes he doesn't. If you got unlucky, you'll need to focus on the missing part in NG+. However, NG+ also features new enemies that spawn only once. These foes wear a combination of different armor, and if you get lucky, they might wear the part you're missing.
Regardless of how you acquire the schematics, once you have all the pieces, head to a Medbay and build your set for the achievement.
In addition, the entire set must be crafted and I advise you to do this before switching to NG+, because in the new game it costs a lot of money.
