How to unlock the Modus Operandi achievement in The Surge - Definitive Guide
1) LEECH - player and enemies steal each other's life. No injectable use.
2) RUSH HOUR - a timer is set on Warren's life. Successful kills buy him more time.
3) EPICENTER - Every once ina while, a flame pit opens up right below Warren.
4) BLACK BELT - Dispense pain with your bare fists - and look like a real drunken master! Hitting armored body parts will wound you.
Basically: No injectables, getting hit gives enemy more life, you have no weapon and hitting armor hurts you. On top of that, you have to hurry (you have approx 3 minutes plus extra time for killed enemies) and there is the constant fire pit (you see it coming, you just need to get out of the way.
I suggest doing this on Episode one. First, get familiar with the episode.
Then the loadout - I did it with LYNX gear, full gear gives you an attack speed bonus... and well, it's light. Weapon - doesn't matter, you will be fighting with your fists. Fists are twin-rigged, if you're wondering. Not sure if increasing twin-rigged proficiency helps at all....
Implants - obviously, you won't be needing injectables, so replace all of them with other stuff. I used lots of vital boosts (give you more health) and Aggression Amplifiers (finishers replenish your health!)... just check what else you have - Auto Aid (regenerates health when near death) and Medi-Voltaicc Regulator (when health is low, regenerate health instead of energy) can be helpful, too!
1) The first area can be run through WITHOUT FIGHTING AT ALL. Just run along the tracks, be careful not to fall down where the rails are broken. A little practice and you can just sweep across the bridge without getting hit and without losing too much time.
2) The second area is a pain, but doable. Just dispense of enemies (target their unarmored parts) and avoid the fire pit. Make sure you regenerate health (by doing finishers). YOu can take the shortcut through a part of the location. When you switch of the lights and fight the two enemies, just lure them out and run past them - you don't need to kill them. If your health is low, however, kill them to regain health.
3) The real pain is the boss area. Try not to get hit by the boss, the missiles or the laser light that can take quite a lot of your health. Finish him when possible and voila!
I did this on NG++, not sure how this affects the difficulty scaling.... but by this time you will have lots of useful implants and your rig will allow more of them to be used.
The four hardest modifiers are the four in the last column: Leech, Rush Hour, Epicenter, and Black Belt. I was surprised to find this wasn't really that difficult, and should be done on Episode 1. Before you begin, be sure to switch out your core mods to get rid of any injectibles and instead put all your mods into overall health. Also have a few mods that recover health when you perform an execution. You can stack this to get 50-60% recovery from every enemy.
The Leech mod takes away the ability to use injectibles to gain health, so the higher pool of health will help. Rush Hour limits your time to complete the episode, so use your shortcuts. You'll gain a bit more time by killing enemies, but don't bother killing anyone not required. You have plenty of time. Epicenter opens a flame pit below you, so be sure to dodge when you see the red circle on the ground. With your high health, it doesn't hurt much and can hit enemies. Black Belt forces you to use your bare hands to attack, though you do a surprising amount of damage and the move set is identical to twin blades if you're used to that. The only twist to this is you'll take damage if you hit an armored area on an enemy, but Leech will essentially offset this.
So, to recap: move through the episode quickly, only kill enemies required for progression and attack unarmored sections if possible, and dodge the continuous flame pits. Like I said, Leech and Black Belt basically offset, so it's just a matter of working through the level quickly.
