How to unlock the Extreme Persistence Detected achievement in The Talos Principle - Definitive Guide

You get this one when spending more than 12 minutes in one of the harder Red Sigils puzzles. The achievement is awarded upon finally solving the puzzle. There doesn't seem to be a requirement to reset or die at least once.

When the announcer/god voice says"My child, there is no shame in seeking another path" you're good to go - and this is also a cue to get this achievement when you choose to leave the puzzle instead:

There must be another requirement (other than time spent)

'Friendly Crossfire' 16 minutes, 0 Deaths, not unlocked.

'Higher Ground' 9 minutes, 3 deaths, not unlocked

The other requirement must be at least one death or reset, then.

I'm hoping I'll get it tonight, I messed up on higher ground and finished it too quickly.

I got this after messing around on a level for way too long, dieing a few times in the process.

'Two Way Street' 12 minutes 54 seconds. 2 deaths, achievement unlocked.

I'm not sure about how many deaths are actually required, but for certain 2 unlocks it.
Achivement unlocked as I went out the purple door.

You can't be idle and you have to be 12:30 in the puzzle. When you hear "My child, there is no shame in seeking another path" you're good to go.

Dying is not a requirement for this achivement. Neither is resetting. I got it on a puzzle where you cannot die and did not reset once.

Good point Calex, I'll add that.

I was incorrect about the death requirements.
I completed Jammed From Within (Silver Sigil Piece) AFTER Elohim said his spiel about there being no shame in searching for the solution elsewhere. The achievement unlocked (Win 10 Version)

I just did this, had the message, and it didn't pop. I don't know if I waited long enough after his message to complete it though

I spent 30 minutes in a mission trying to get that message and I never did. But I did get the achievement...

It must filter idle time. I left my character for 30 minutes in a puzzle while walking my dogs and I made sure to die twice. Did not unlock for me. Also tried resetting in another left. No luck.

I just got the message naturally while trying to complete a puzzle. Was tempted to go for the other one but was so close to the end tried this one instead. Probably took me 4 mins to finish after the message and zero nothing... Not sure why it didn't pop

Tried this on the first red puzzle. Heard the message. Picked up the sigil 30 seconds later. Achievement didnt pop even after leaving the area. Annoying to say the least after 8-10 mins of idling.
EDIT: Worked the second time. Did nothing differently.

I recommend going for this in Building C - level 6 in the puzzle "The Seven Doors of Recording" (the puzzle is immediately to your left as you teleport into C6).

For this achievement, the description is quite ambiguous but the requirements are to spend an unspecified amount of time solving a puzzle without actually collecting the sigil until after Elohim reaches out to you. For me in this puzzle, I had to wait over 12 minutes before Elohim finally spoke to me. I do not know how many dialogue options there are and what triggers one over another but for me on this level, he said: My child, there is no shame in seeking another path. Leave this mystery for another day. After those words of encouragement, I went ahead and solved the puzzled and as soon as I collected the red sigil, the achievement popped!

*It is important to know that you cannot be standing still and expect to get the achievement - I assume that the game wants you to be actively trying to solve the puzzle, but I pointed myself into a corner and rubberbanded my controller so as to be "running" into the wall. If you're playing in first person mode, I would recommend going into the Game Options and changing your preferred view to over your left or right shoulder or to behind player so that you can actually see yourself moving (in first person, it looks as though you're standing still, even though you aren't!)

Please note that while this achievement is technically possible earlier in the game, it seems as though the puzzles aren't challenging enough for Elohim to speak up, or at least not in my experince.
Should you chose to leave the puzzle at this time rather than solving it, you can instead unlock:

Thanks! I did it on world A, can't remember what level. I rubberbanded my controller just like you said and got both achievements for leaving the level and then completing it.

Just to clarify, you have to rubberband for +12minutes to get the "My child, there is no shame..." then you leave the puzzle to get
The Talos PrincipleKnow Your LimitsThe Know Your Limits achievement in The Talos Principle worth 43 pointsAccept Elohim's wisdom.
return to get the sigil & then get this achievement or do you have to reload or something to get both achievements..?

I unlocked this in world A map 6 level "A Door Too Far".

It was my first attempt, and I ended up being there trying out diverse positions for the crystals,
and I genuinely spent more than 12 minutes messing about.

No idea if / when Elohim talked to me or not.

The achievement popped when I got to the red sigil part.

Spend at least 13 minutes (can be more time) in a Red Sigil puzzle actively moving about inside of the chamber.

The achievement is awarded upon solving the puzzle.

Note: It may not be possible to unlock this on the very first Red Sigil chamber 'An Escalating Problem' in world A-3. I was able to unlock this in the second accessible Red Sigil chamber 'Friendly Crossfire' in world A-5 which requires the box to be unlocked in order to be solvable.

Now this can be a bit of a pain in the ass or you can get it naturally while playing. Basically it's as the description says, you have to keep trying over and over and over to beat a puzzle. These are the conditions: It has to be a Red Sigil Puzzle and you have to spend more than 12 Minutes and 30 Seconds inside of it constantly moving around. Once Elohim says "My child, there is no shame in seeking another path. Leave this mystery for another day" then the time needed has allotted and you can complete the puzzle.

Solve the puzzle and start stalling for time without taking the sigil . Run, jump, do what you want, create the appearance of active work. After 10-15 minutes, Elohim will advise you to postpone solving the puzzle. Run around the level for another 5 minutes and only then take the sigil.

You need to be moving all the time. This problem can easily be solved with ordinary stationery eraser on sticks.
