to pick the lock.
Make sure that you purchase jackets from vendors with attributes which can increast lockpicking such as the Vory Jacket, In fact buy different jackets which bolster other attributes to make the game easier

Does anyone know if this can be done with the same container by reloading a save game? (save -> pick lock -> load -> pick lock -> load....).

This has to be bugged. While I didn't count, I picked everything I came across and am a very thorough player. No chance I didn't have well over 50 picked.

You will need at least one point in the Lockpicking talent to pick any type of lock. I would suggest getting this talent first, and even getting the second tier fairly early as well. You will get a ton of materials and items from picking locks which will help for upgrading your gear.
