This achievement, and the other achievements associated with upgrading a tree to max, can be done in one playthrough if you hold off on spending any skill points until level 25 (24 skill points). At this point SAVE, pop the achievement for the tree, and reload and repeat.

It is possible to spend no skill points until level 25 on a single Extreme playthrough, but it's annoying. If you are following the walkthrough, you'll hit level 25 2/3 into Chapter 2 (for me, it was before starting Wind Turbine Robbery).
The worst spots:
* Fighting For Abundance: Personal Protection. Save between every wave, when it lets you.
* Arena Champion. Wasn't as bad I was expecting since your health recovers between waves. Try dodging away and planting a trap when you have enough distance.
* End of Chapter 1 (after Counterattack).
* Relics
I logged 174 deaths getting to level 25 (loads from trying to get parries in normal fights). I think I could have improved on this if I used the explosive traps more often. Try it out.
